What was your first CAR?

-
1973 Dodge Charger 400/727/3.23 gears. Blue with white bucket interior and slapstick with console.White vinyl top. Had Cragars on the rear and steel wheels on the front with Plymouth division hubcaps. Paid $500 for it in 1981. Drove the snot out of it for 2 years and sold it with a blown head gasket.

If I ever come into any money I will have an exact one built. I will keep it a 400 as well.

Is that rootbeer brown? A similar car (72 340 3-speed on the floor) was on the lot when I went car shopping with the parents. I took my mother for a test drive and I think her finger impressions are still in the dash pad. They said I could by the car but I'd have to foot the bill for all of it and all the insurance. They offered to pay half of the Challenger (post 121) and all the insurance until I got my first ticket. The 318 E-body was a no brainer financial decision. Best wishes on your journey to recreate your first car.

The color is Mojave Tan Metallic. There was another car that same color around home that was a 340 3 speed back in the day.

Not mine, got behind one in town :wtf: Haven't seen one in decades. My homie's first.

One of his neighbors had a garage sale after he got it, garage sale had a 215 Olds aluminum V-8.
Yup the Olds went into the Datsun :steering:
.

My first 2 cars at age 13 were a wrecked 69 road runner 383 car paid $250 for that is now fully restored by a family member. And in the same weekend I also bought a 68 charger with a 318 for $500. Sold that one also and is now a general Lee....a poor one at that... Wish I had them both back to re sell haha

Nice little engines. 4 barrel AFB?
I do recall it was a 4 bbl. The neighbor had intended the motor would go in a mid-engine tube chassis buggy he was building. Something came up, as in opening a Kawasaki dealership in the neighboring desert village and the entire buggy program got ditched. The Olds came with a set of header flanges so Bill bought like 6 180° u bends in the matching size from JC Whitney and once we had the motor mounted, I built the headers for it. I had connections for bits of steel due to my dad's construction job so we tacked a lot of the chassis together and then towed it to a welding shop we had connections with. Little bugger had 4sumthin' rear end gears behind the stock 4banger and that V-8 weighed about the same as that sad little 1300. It was a terror at stop lights :steering:

First car was a 66 Lemans that had the 4-bbl OHC six, 4-speed and 10-bolt posi. Engine and trans were gone but in it's place was a 66 389 360hp tri-power engine. Never got it started but did get the engine out without a hoist. Lifted it way up and dumped the engine(shortblock) out the bottom. Remember to drain all the water and oil next time you do that. First car that ran was a 67 Charger, 318 auto.
