What was your very first car?

-
1st car in 1974, was a 1960 Tbird, with the big 390 Thunderbird engine. Kid we bought it from said it might be to much for me, pssst! Was really a beautiful car (boat), with fresh paint, the smell of the leather interior and a beach boys 8 track it was heaven. They were asking $750 for it, my parents offered $500, I said they were crazy!!! Got it for the $500 the next week... Sold it to buy my 68 Roadrunner in 1975 also. It was much faster then the Tbird. 383, stock except for headers, 4 spd, 3:23 open.

Bought a 71 340 Demon & 73 340 Dart Sport from my grandfather when I was 11. The Demon was in bad shape and I ended up junking it, used the cash from it to buy an '84 Dodge D50 4x4 from my dad.

I still have the 73 340 Dart Sport (no pics, its just a pile of parts at the moment) and the '84 D50 to this day.

The D50 underwent many changes through my teenage years, and well into my 20's. The worst change I ever did to that truck, was pull out the original Torqueflite 904 and swap in a KM145 5-Speed (KM145's were known to explode behind stock 4 bangers, and I blew up quite a few of em). Then I converted it over to a 2.5L Intercooled Turbo Diesel (using my '85 D50 as a parts truck/conversion supply).

These days, she runs around with 4" Suspension Lift, 2" Body Lift, A 273 Small Block, Torqueflite 727, KM100/NP203 Transfer Case Doubler (Full Time 4WD).

Back when I started driving, parts were still pretty common for the ugly little creature and they were seen driving around everywhere. Now no one makes parts for them anymore (and people have actually stolen parts off of my truck) and they're no where to be found in junkyards. I've been trying to find new Fenders, Cab Corners, A Gas Cap Door, and a spare Tailgate shell for the better part of 7 years with no luck.

my first car was a 66 VW Beetle

Like this one?

Yeah, that's it. Mine was black too, it had been my uncles, and he would give it a fresh coat of black brush paint every year. Didn't look that great up close but wasn't bad from a distance. Man I loved that old truck.

71 Charger with 318. Totalled by a drunk in a 4 wheel drive 3/4 ton who rear-ended it while I was mowing a lawn...the collision pushed the Charger right by me about 8 feet away...got my attention!

He drove on for another block then stopped, stumbled back and asked if he hit something...cops answered that for him!

Took the insurance money and bought a 71 340 Duster which I've hung on to all theses years and am now fixing up.

My first car was a 59 Plymouth Fury 2 door hardtop, purchased on June 12, 1967 for $550. It had a 318 poly and 2 speed Powerflite transmission. I still have it, and here's a pic.
