I've started to take gear box out but, it won't clear the steering wheel shaft. I have it completely loose. Do I have take steering wheel assy loose so gear box can clear steering shaft? Any help is appreciated:-k.

I had to remove the steering shaft. Its been a loooooong time ago but i remember it was a royal *****. Good luck sorry i dont remember any tricks

Moving the steering column is the first thing I do. Once I get the steering wheel resting on the seat, a pickle fork between the geear box and box coupling moves the entire column out of my way. The correct puller takes the pitman arm off. The rest is easy.

Clean the 3 mounting bolts and the bolt holes with parts cleaner and apply a dab of locktite to the bolt threads.

Thanks for the help. I had trouble getting old gear box out but, then I put the new one and with out wanting to take it out, it fell out. I did loosen the steering wheel and let it rest on seat. That helped out alot. After that it was gravy.
