I never plugged mine back in with the new wiring from year one. But I believe it is part of the seta belt system.

Seat belts who needs them stinking seat belts. If I wreck this thing I don't wanna be around to see it especially at a buck 10. But if I get pulled over it's a quick one two I'm buckled down and no ticket.
