whats up with this cut out

Dash for a 72 Demon. Look at the way the sheetmetal is cut around the steering column? It isn't centered. It is rough and hacked. The sides are not mirror images of each other? I saw somebody had one for sale that had this same cut and I see one on ebay that has no cut??? Different year??? Rallye vs non rallye??? HELP?????

looks like at some point, someone put in a different steering column.

looks as if someone wanted to remove the column without removing the bracket from the column. Not sure why they would do that, its only 4 small\short bolts.

Does anybody on here have a picture of a good one and what this area is suppose to look like??? I think the small space with the angle cuts on each side is suppose to be there? Is that correct??

Looks factory to me, thats just the way its cut. The plastic trim will cover the cutout.
