A back brace to an 8 3/4, should I be overly concerned with warping the housing? I plan on tacking it in place, then moving around with 1 1/2 - 2" beads. Should I weld it solid or just in stratigic locations?
Open to any experienced opinions.
Thanks all.

I would stay smaller. Like 1". It's easy to warp them due to the shapes involved.

X2 I would even take brakes every so often to let things cool down. I have warped realy thick plate before with to much heat.

Thanks for the replies guys.
Should I weld it solid all the way around or just every so often intermitently?

(Responding to this while eating my luch at work as a welder/custom fabricator.) I would do 1"-2" sections staggered from side to side, let it cool down and weld the whole thing solid. That way you wont get any water trapped inbetween the brace and rear housing and start rusting from the inside out.
I would do 2 1"-2" sections at a time on each side then let it cool. It may take a wile to finish but atleast it wont warp on you.

Sounds like plenty of time for beer!!!!!
An 18 pack should just about get me through it.
Thanks all for the input.
