Where does this go?

I just rebuilt my stromberg WW 2bbl. But I have an extra part! Where does this go ... it isn't in any of the parts diagrams.

Looks to me like the cardboard gadget to set the float.

that is what I thought too, but my rebuild kit came with an L shaped gauge. This part is metal, it is tarnished and smelled like gas ... definitely from the carb. I think the PO maybe included it in the last carb rebuild as a fix???

I believe that is a float bowl gas baffle.

ah.haa...................That's the ticket. I think it's a baffle that goes vertically in grooves between the float and the needle assembly.

If not I will continue to guess.

Can anyone confirm this? I can't seem to get it to fit. Anyone rebuild a stromberg lately or have one on the bench that they can crack open?

thats what i'm thinking too. i know the holey 1bbl carbs i have been through have those.

Do those baffles go under the float horizontally or between the pintle and the float vertically?

It is the float baffle. I believe the small narrow end goes down 1st?

Could it have been in the bottom of the carb parts cleaner bucket off another carb? It's happen to me before.
