Can someone tell me where this goes? It looks like a shield for something under the car. 1973 Dart 4-door custom. Thanks.

Yeah, I guess a picture might help. I'm losing it, lol.

I’m sorry, I can’t identify it. I hope someone else can.

Behind the front wheel on the frame. Steering linkage goes through the rectangular hole. Iirc

Those were automatic only. I've only seen them on B body cars. If an A body had them, I have yet to run across one.
They were purported to be a deflector.

My 73 225 duster has one on driver side only, looks to keep smashing water off of exhaust

A-bodies had them! This is the one on my '74. The other side has a plastic piece as well. Has to come off to remove the starter, do any exhaust work, etc so I'm sure that many were just left off at some point.

My '72 Dart had one. Early ones were sheet metal. Later ones were plastic.

Yours has more contours than I remember the plastic ones having

All the cars that I have come across that originally had them must have NOT been reinstalled after changing the starter.
I have yet to own a virgin anything.

How late? Because the one on my '74 was metal. At least the starter shield was, the one on the other side was plastic.

On my 1970 Swinger 340 I must have removed and replaced the starter 5 or 6 times from 1972 to 77. I don’t remember anything in the way.

From what I have read the purpose of that splash shield to was to keep the auto shift linkage from getting road slush splashed up on it and freezing up in the cold weather.
