I'm building a 71 valiant for the track ONLY. I'm gonna do it for less than 2 grand. Here's what I've got so far. Think I can get in the 13's? This is fun!

71 valiant 4 door $100
rebuilt 360 short block .040 over $350
70-71 j heads stock $150
factory 4 barrel intake $free
carter competition 625cfm $ 50
truck manifolds $ free

8 3/4 with suregrip 3.91 $350
727 with shift kit $150

where'd u get an 8 3/4 for $350..AND A SUREGRIP!?!?!?!? Grab me one too please :-D..
and where'd u get a valiant for $100.i'll take one of those 2...lol

You can email CompCams and tell them specifics on your engine and car, and they will recommend a cam for you. I just did this and the cam they specified was what most here also recommmended. Takes a couple days for reply. Mike

My buddy who is 73 years old has been collecting mopar junk for years. Its a 8 3/4 out of a 69 charger or something. Yeah the perches are alittle bit wider, but nothing a torch, grinder and welder cant fix. I found a guy on the internet that had a 3rd member that was 3.91 suregrip for $250. I got the valiant from my buddy also. Its a slant 6 car. He had a 72 also with a 318, but it had been wrecked in the front. But I'm using it for parts. dats how you do it!

I would use something like an XE268 or XE274 with a loose 10" converter.

With that combo i'd go with a Lunati voodoo series cam the .454/.475 looks good for you,as far as a converter i'd say about 2800 but i'm not an expert on converters, this guy is though and can build you what you need..www.ultimateconverter.com
