My 67 Barracuda is waiting on an Alterkation in the mail. I have turned my attention to the engine built. I will be building a mild roller cammed 440 with Eddie heads and an RPM intake. It will be backed by a built 727 trans. Horse power will be between 450 and 500 not trying to go overboard.

So what size carb should I be looking at I was thinking 750 or 850 Double Pumper? Anyone with a 440 out there have any advice?

Brad

what stall?
what cam?
what gear?
and will you be tailoring the timing curve?

830 dp annular or 850 annular
holley sell a 'chokeless' annular race carb. they work very well and only cost $450'ish

I agree, the MoPars like to breath. An 850 to start. (You did say mild 440)

I run mine with an 870 Street Avenger...look at my signature to see what I am running....I also have the six pack hood that shoves plenty of air in the carb when I running down the street...

I had the Edlebrock 800 CFM on, I went to the Quick Fuel 850. I gain 16 Hp on the engine dyno. I tried the Edlebrock on the street, ran nice with good throttle, than switch carbs to the Quick Fuel. I can tell the difference. The Quick Fuel was better.

Are you driving it on the street or track or what? I have run 750 on 2 mild 440's and it ran fine for the street, wasnt starving last one was a 292/509 cam weiand team g intake with 1.81m 2.14 steel heads ported to match and 10 to 1 compression pistons, that's all i can remember
Put some more specs on here from your motor

Run a Chuck Nyutten modified 750(900+ cfm) on my 3300#Cuda for a long time, and loved it.

.030 over 440, iron heads@11/1 .650 lift Comp Cams Flat tappet and 2" headers.

Slightly more mph if I used a 1050 Dominator, but liked the higher torque and wheelstands, with the small carb.

10.70@123
