So what is the best truck/vehicle that you should get a dana 60 out of if you plan to use it in an A-Body drag car. I have read on another forum about the f100 Dana 60 but those are extremely difficult to find. I also know to stay away from the HD Dana 60.

What vehicles have the best Dana 60 to where you can just cut the tubes to the length you need and start building the axle?

Here is a list of what came with a Dana 60 but its a pretty big year range, not sure what can be used out of the yard...

I got mine from a early 80's Dodge B200 van. It is the closest to a car Dana that I could find.

Why Dana 60, go with a Ford 9", cheaper, easer to adjust at the track, can be built bulitproof

I got mine out of a 76 Ford 3/4 ton pickup. Even had 4.10 gears and a trac-loc. Axle wall thickness was about 5/16".

I got a Dana 60 heavy duty from a Dodge 3/4 ton off of Craigslist for a hundred sixty bucks... It had 410 gears that were great and actually had brand new brakes and all that stuff that I sold for $40 along with the axels. I was$120 into my housing and gears.. I'm not sure what's wrong with the heavy duty I felt it was LOL heavy duty...

Th HD Dana 60's are the heaviest. By HD I mean that they have HD stamped right next to the 60 on the housing.

Thanks all for the suggestions!! i will search the junkyards. Going to look at the vans first because there were some dodge ones that are easy to access and go from there. Thank YOU!

Yes I imagine if they put extra ribbing in it to make it even stronger that it would be a little bit heavier.. I don't think 5 lb or so of extra weight over your back tires is going to kill anyting..

have you tried punching in Dana 60 in the parts section of your local Craigslist?..

I say that because it's a whole lot easier that way, it's already out... And they might help you load it up in your truck...

I can check craigslist. But my local junkyards have helped me with alot of duster parts so i'd rather give them business first.

My junkyards can definitely beat that price. thank you Though!
yeah I looked at your local Pittsburgh Craigslist and then it had to go further out to just get that one. It looks like everybody's selling the brakes and axles like you'll be doing after they built their Dana...

Did your 60HD have 35 spline axles? thanks

No, if you build a D60 they're going to have it cut down to your specific size and you can order 35-spline axles for $300 with green bearings in any size you want...

One of my 60HD's is 35 spline. The carrier is all I wanted. I shorten my housings myself. I asked him because I would have been curious to know what it came out of if it was.
