Hi everyone.

I have a 1973 Dodge Dart Sport with a 225 slant 6 and automatic transmission. How do I know if I have the 904 or 727 transmission? I want to change the transmission filter and gaskets. Any help is appreciated.

The old filter kits came with both gaskets. The filter is the same. 904 has a square-ish pan with a corner loped off. A 727 has a bump on one side.

904 pan is almost square and the 727 has a kick out on the side.
You probably have a 904 in that car.
In any case, do yourself a favor and get the gasket for the 42RH.
It is rubber over metal and is reusable.

If for some reason you have a 727, the 46RH gasket is the one you want.

Sealing a pan gasket can be a bit tricky if you are not familiar with doing it, and the reusable gaskets work really well.

Unless you have a truck or maybe a taxi/fleet vehicle, it's a 904. 727s never came behind standard-duty slants.

Thanks for all of the information. I'll get the 42Rh gasket.
