Trying to figure out what year this is?, usually the date code is stamped clearly but these are the only numbers I can find..., on the front of the block near where the head mates FW318R30 60379 then on the side of the block 10239 and 2586030-318-2, it came with a 70 Duster my son bought but pretty sure its not the original motor, trying to decide if we are going to keep it or not, we would if it is original otherwise not much point as it needs a rebuild and we have another that doesn't. Thanks

pass side of block just above pan rail there is a machined boss. Should have some numbers stamped in it.

F=1970 W= Windsor plant 318=disp R=regular fuel
missing # between 30 & 6=date engine built, julian date
0379=unit built that day
10 23 9= casting date Oct 23 69
2586030= casting # 318=disp 2= casting master change, 2nd change
This is the way I was told a long time ago

Could be an 8 between the 0 and 6 it looked like a space at first but might just be a light stamp also I checked under the grease on the passenger side pan rail ( thanks cracked back ) and there it was...the matching serial number to the Vin. .so I guess we keep it now, I know many would say why it's only a 318 but the way these things have been going up in value lately who knows and there is only ONE of these blocks! Thanks for all your help guys!

You could always set it aside and build a different 340-360-stroker for the car. Never hurts to have the original block with a car.

If it is 3086 that would be Jan 8th 1970
