It's all relative, need more info.... Weapons, food and water sources, terrain, etc...
 
a neutral time and place, an area they had each occupied at one time (no home field advantage) so each army would have some knowledge of the terrain, of course each army at there respective peak, (we may assume all locals have been slaughtered or run away)
