Who's the A body fender tag deciphering guru? Question about a car in the"For Sale" area...

-
I think the question about glass is laid to rest by the page in post 45.

  1. Clear glass was standard on all body styles in the Duster line WITH or WITHOUT AC
  2. with AC tinted glass was recommended BUT not required
  3. Tinted glass and Tinted windshield were extra (as in you had to order it and pay extra for either

...but clear glass was only coded on a AC car, and only if tinted glass was not ordered.

Who is close that can go for a visit? This is fun but it could go on forever.
I’m going to Vegas for the street car super nationals this weekend. But I’ll be wrenching on 5000hp turbo junk. Not looking at body swapped dusters.

...sounds logically

That kind of makes sense as the line would expect to put tinted glass in an AC car so they needed a NUDGE so to speak to put in clear

It's kind of unclear on that options doc.
It could also be interpreted as clear glass standard, but only coded if AC is ordered and no tint desired.
There are no "S" codes for either tint option, indicating that might be the case.

I'd be tempted to get the "patina" paint color matched and respray the engine compartment and underside to match better.
(I could possibly do that myself)

...or just finish painting the entire car.
I agree. So, it may be the original paint, it needs painting anyway. I think the car has a body swap. It's still a fun car to have, just may not be an original fun car, but still a fun car. Sale it as a fun car and be done with it.

There's literally nothing to suggest the car has had a body swap. The fender tag matches pretty much everything on the car, except for the AC stuff that was mostly added and appears to have been added, which would be square with the fender tag and the car being originally non-AC

You can see where the swung the paint gun back and forth on the hood

No, you can see the reflection of the guys garage door and the fluorescent lights. Good grief.

I haven't read the whole thread, but has the guy selling the car chimed in?

No, the sale thread is now closed and after some of the wild *** speculation going on here I'm not sure I can blame him.

I mean sure, everyone likes to look and speculate, but there's some real nonsense going on with this one for some reason. Hopefully someone actually went to look at it and ended up with a well priced real 340 car project.
