Why do 68 & 69 dart iginition switches have different # ground plug ins?

I have two ignition switches. I want to use my 68 because I have a really nice main harness. The 68 has 6 plugs but only has 5:? Could someone clarify. See photo thanks!

I see lugs on the 1969. @4spdragtop is working on figuring out the differences between the in-dash switches. This should get his attention.

A multimeter would clear this up in about one minute. IF it's a ground---no switch needs a ground. It might be?? did they have a "key light" option? A quick look at the 68 service manual (Valiant) shows one pin NOT USED

Here's the connections from the '69 Dodge FSM.
Accessory and Starter connections have been moved.

Thanks @Mattax , physically they are different and wont fit, properly anyway. Bezels are different as well.
Del mentioned the light and I know for a fact 68 had that option as I had one before, so electrically this MAY be the difference. Not sure if 69 had this or not.
Go to mymopar.com and download FSM for free, these are a must.

Did you get anywhere figuring out whether '67 switch was different than '68? and whether there was a superceded p/n number?
 
Funny, I was at dealership yesterday and parts guy punched in both 67 and 68 numbers and yes to superceded numbers. BUT parts guy said 68 superceded back to 67 number?? WTH??

so what do I go with?
Connecting the wires according to the back of the switch or what the 1968 manual says?
All five wires have the same color coating
The manual has the ign2, the yellow “ST” wire and the black “ACC”
Going to totally different terminals
Y would the manual show different wire positions on the ‘68 ign switch? Fusible link is intact
No power to relay at all
Wife says back away from the car for awhile
I’m way too irritable over this issue

I guess you didn't read what I posted in the other thread. WHERE did you get this diagram? I posted one out of a 68 Plymouth manual, the Barracuda inst panel, that I'd downloaded from MyMopar

There is no switch that needs a ground, unless it is some sort of lighting, or anti theft. GM used to ground the solenoid circuit on shutoff to prevent jumpering the solenoid

I know this is an old topic and I suspect Shutdown4 figured it out.

But...

I'm making the connectors for the switches (67-69) and while reaching the types of A Body dash mounted switches I stumbled on this post.


I believe there is a misprint in the 68 FSM for Valliant.

The parts book shows the same ignition switch for ALL car lines so the pinout should be the same (otherwise the Accessories would only function if the key was in the start position and the ballast bypass would be powered all the time)

The Plymouth FSM shows the Valiant having the ACC and IGN2 switched (which makes no sense) it is shown correctly 2 pages later and for all the other Plymouth Car Lines
