Had some fuel delivery issues with a cheap pump so I got a 100gph 14psi electric and regulator from Summit.

Holy hell this thing is loud.
My fuel system is 3/8 nylon 12 wrapped in half inch foam insulation, and it’s freakin loud under the hood and can be heard through the firewall even with the regulator free floating and not mounted on it’s metal bracket.

This thing has got to go.
 
You want a quiet pump ,my recommendation would be a Carter #P4594, super quiet and good quality.

This. I started with a Holley pump and dogs in the next town over fled for the next county. I swapped for some Carter electric goodness, and it was so quiet....well, maybe I'm just deaf from the first one.

You could always go with the in-tank unit. They're usually One Ping Only silent.
 
Or you could just make the exhaust louder.

I have two aeromotive a750 pumps on my boat and they’re LOUD. But once the twin turbo big block is fired you can’t hear a damn thing.
 
How and where is the pump mounted? I have used the little rubber isolators that come with an MSD box to mount the fuel pump bracket and it makes the pump silent.

The pump is mounted on a section of radiator hose.
Two bolts hold the rubber to the subframe and two bolts hold the pump to that.
About as rubber isolated as it can get.

I have a Carter that I’ll probably put back on it that isn’t near as loud.
100 bucks wasted.
I may end up doing an in tank.

Dang and still that loud? I agree that’s as isolated as it gets.

Street only.
I was loosing fuel pressure on acceleration after what was in the carb was used.
Then it started doing it at normal cruise.
My afr would go lean when did this.
I verified the ignition system wasn’t the cause and swapped out the Carter rotary pump for the current noisy one.
When swapping the pump I found the filter was clogged, but since I spent the money I went ahead with the new pump.
Fuel situation is solved now of course, but the new pump noise is intolerable.

Kicking myself for building this magnum without the mechanical pump eccentric.
 
You want quiet? Get a tanksInc with the pump in the tank and you only hear it before engine starts and just barely then. I have one in 71 Cuda with a gen 2 hemi and F.I. for about close to 10 years.

Mechanical pump is the way to go.

Built my own short snout adapter for the eccentric on a '89 roller 318.

2nd '89 318 roller came with the eccentric, that was awesome... running it now.

Nice and quiet and works very well, 4 bbl and single wire hot spark ignition.

Is it the Carter 4600 series? I have the same pump....I do not hear it. I have it mounted behind the driver's rear wheel. I do not use the included mounting kit. I made a clamp that is lined with rubber that clamps the body.
 
The carter rotary inline pumps are great and last a long time but they do wear out. Recently changed it on a 5.0L ranger after 30 years of service. The vanes are usually hard plastic and a pre-filter is essential. Upgraded to a newer ranger plastic tank with more capacity and the stock, efi internal lift pump (normally keeps the reservoir feeding the inline stock efi pump full so it doesn't drop pressure cornering with no tank baffles) with an aeromotive bypass regulator.

I don’t remember and no markings on it still visible.
I know it wasn’t nearly as loud.
 
The 4600 body is painted black; the 4594 which is the same size externally, is either gold or silver colour. Both have flutes in the body, another way to tell.
 
maybe its working too hard..do you have a stone/road debris kink or ding knocked into the under car fuel pipe or a blocked pickup sock?

Just out of curiosity how are you guys wiring your fuel pumps? My personal experience was with VW off-road cars and due to the possibility of a crash we used this wiring to kill the pump.

Fords since the 80s have an inertia switch (in the trunk usually) that is a steel ball sitting in a cup with a contact on each side. A crash unseats the ball and breaks the circuit. A button resets the ball. Another common system is to use an oil pressure switch. A momentary button can be used to prime. EFI computers often initiate the prime for a few seconds, then relies on oil pressure or an airflow sensor to keep a parallel pump circuit going once running.
 
The same safety shut off device can be used by fitting a switch to the oil pressure sender outlet....or any other oil pressure gallery plug that is external & convenient. When the engine stops, oil pressure drops, sw turns off the pump.
 

I like the noise, it drowns out the damn buzzing from the MSD in the glove box! :):):)
