What kind of tires are you thinking about running? Reason I ask is the sticky performance tires are limited or non-existent until you get to about a 16-17" rim. I wouldn't want you to drop coin on a rim size that you can't get every inch out of. That being said, backspace needed for the rear with stock axle is 4.5 and the front needs 5.75 or so.

I couldn't get 8 in. under my 71 dart with 4 inches of backspace. I ended up with 7 in. and 4.5 backspace and they fit tight...15x10x28 mickey thompson sr radials.

I'm looking to buy chrome rallye wheels for my 1971 dart. I measured the backspacing and I'm pretty sure they'll fit, but i want to be sure since there is no returning special order items on summit. Is anybody running these?? Any help would be greatly appreciated!!:burnout:

the biggest thing to worry about is the total width of the tire/wheel combo, you have 4.6 back space, and the tire will probably add another 1/2 to 1 inches. i'm running 17x7 streeters with 4.25 bs, small bolt pattern by the way, and the car is lowered........total width is 9.4 inches...here's a pic,

i'm not sure if the 17x8 4.50 bs would have fit.........maybe it would have, and now that i have this tire/wheel combo on here, it looks like there's a chance that it would, but that was a chance i decided not to take...

I couldn't get 15 x 8's on my 70 Duster with 275/60 tires because of the overall with of the tire. I switched to 15 x 7's with the same tire and no problem.

The largest I can run on my 70 Dart is a 15 x 7 with 255/60 tire due to the smaller wheelwell opening.

What size are you running on the front of the 70' Dart? Can you post at picture?
Thanks

I have 8" rallys on my duster with 275x60x15 BFGs , but dusters have more room in the wheel wells than darts, I'd have to say you'd be safer with a 7" rally
