tomorrow i will finish assembling my new 440 for the dart.it is .30 over.has 13.5.1 forged domed ross pistons,452 heads.flow over 309 at 680 lift.has a bullet .675 lift full roller cam,lifter,rockers,etc.crank is turned .20.steel.
fully balanced, has eagle h-beam rods.aluminum w/p housing, elecric pmp,m1 intake ported matched, have a friend with same combo slight different cam running 10.0s in a fully bodied and interior 70 barracuda.weighs 3400lbs.i am running a striped 74 dart swinger figuring 3000lbs or less.5000 stall convertor.my race shops desktop dyno showed this motor to make 734 hp.so i am figuring upper 600's should be achieved.my question is will my 8.75 rear end with yukon axles hold up to this.i will probably be rnning a 4.30 or 4.56 rear spooled w/29.5x10.5 slicks.

First off, which type of 8 3/4 you got 741 or 742 or 489, probably 489. Even if it's the 489 and you're truly trying to stuff 600 puppies through it, I'd be worried about snapping the yoke end of the pinion shaft off, especially if you're running slicks.

i have a 742 or a 489.and yes i am running slicks.i have a dana in a ford truck i could spend the money to build.but would like to stick with the 8.75 since it is already in the car.what do you think

If its a 489 I don't think you'll break it. A friend is running one in his Duster pulling the front wheels up 18" and carrying them almost to the 60' mark running 9.7 in the 1/4.

If you don't have the weld on brace, then yes there is a good possibility you could break it.

The 8 3/4 was factory installed in the Hemi Darts & Barracudas with automatic transmissions. I'd probably add the brace just to be safe, but hey, isn't breaking parts all part of the fun?

i plan to get a brace for the back of the housing.what is with your avatar pic.that car has some major twist.do you have a larger picture of that?that is quite interesting..
