I have a 383 hp block 1970 date code. The heads that were on it are 906s. The block was bored .030 over with flat top pistons I would just like to freshen it up new rings, bearings, ect. Block, pistons, crank all look very clean the problem is the heads were taken off and sitting a while in a shed verses the garage the block was in, so the heads are all rusted and need to be redone. The prices range from 475.00 to 750.00 to redo them a little pricey for my budget. Someone i know has a set of heads he just took off a 440 went with aluminum ones the casting numbers are 3751213 and 3769902 these have less then 2500 miles on them best part he only is asking a 100.00 for them and said they would bolt on and go. Im not building a race motor just a driver. Is there any problem using these heads? Any special gaskets? parts? needed. And if they are good what size cam would you's use? My first motor redo so be kind if I dont know all the technical terms. Thanks Gene

Is this that dumb of a question? Just trying not to get taken advantage of by buying these heads. thanks:???:

Thanks are there big differences between these and 906 heads?

For general stock performance use, there wont be any noticable difference between the 906 heads and the later heads. One plus side, the 3769902 heads *may* have induction hardened seats.
