Can anyone tell me how to adjust the windows in a 67 cuda notchback. I purchased and installed all new weatherstripping to find out that when the door is shut the window just barely touches the rubber. When the door is shut there is a gap between the front and rear window. All windows were working fine. I Removed both front regulators lubed them up and reinstalled. Got to the rear 1/4 window tried to remove regulator and now I have a mess. The rear glass is completly off track and I cant get the regulator out or the glass out. If anyone could help I would appreciate it. Pics would be very helpful. Thanks!

I don't want to hijack your thread but I'm having a simular problem with the rear 1/4 glass on my 69 Dart. The top is tilted out and won't go into the seal area without a little help and the leading edge that has the trim and seal almost overlaps on the bottom and is about 1/2 an inch away on the top.

I've got a picture of the inside with the panel off. I was going to try and label the stuff so it would be easier to explain but I'm having trouble with that as well. I hope that the Dart is simular to what is in your Cuda and we both get the help we need.

Unlike the front regulators the rear 1/4 windows regulators ride in front and rear tracks which will have to be removed to get the regulator out. Start with the front one first and remove the rollers too. Go from there to the regulator arm stud retainers, remove them and the studs from the frame at the bottom of the glass. Remove the rollers from the glass frame center slot. Raise the glass and disconnect it from the rear track.

The front and rear regulator tracks have in and out adjustment. Just loosen the large lock nut that secures them and screw the center screw in or out so that the glass just touches the weatherstripping on the outside. When it`s where you want it lock down the screw with the large nut while holding the center screw. There`s a stop for both up and down. Loosen the stops, adjust the window height and depth and then slide them against the glass and tighten them down.

Thanks for the instructions Longgone, I was able to correct part of the problem, now I have created a few other problems… maybe?.

I got the top of the window to go into the seal and the window works well. I ended up taking the metal piece above the door panel off to expose the top nut for the rear window track. When I did this I noticed that the ball or pin (it is a little hard to see but it’s in the middle of the first picture) that is toward the back of the window wasn't in a track or guide. I started feeling around in the bottom of the window well and found a wheel like thing (it is the blue part that I placed in the removed rear track second picture). I figure that the wheel / glide needs to go in the track and the ball / pin needs to slide along that track in the glide. As it sits right now when I put the rear track back in the window well the pin was no where close to the track. I adjusted the track out as far as I could and the ball / pin just touched the track and glide but as I turned the window up and down it comes to a point where they come apart and the glide falls out of the track and into the bottom of the window well. So that is the first of my continuing issue, and the second is that the window trim still isn’t lining up (last picture), it is still out about ½ an inch. I think one of the screws must have an adjustment for that it just might take me a while to figure it out, eventually I will though. My main concern is what to do about the rear track and how to get that fixed. I really would like to have it correct, but the window does work without it. I just won’t feel right about driving my car around without that rear track in place, I’m sure the factory put it there for a reason.

Thanks again for the help. I’m very thankful for this site because without it I don’t think that I would attempt some of the things that I do, I’m learning a lot from everyone though.

Rich

P.S. Sorry about the blurry pictures, My camera is not working at the moment and I had to borrow my daughers and it isn't working the best either. Man kids are hard on electronics.:toothy10:

Good Luck!

The roller pulled apart in my rear windows and if you try to put it back together they will juct pull apart again. I got new ones from R/T Specialties.

When I got my car the PO had the windows all messed up and I found it to be more than a little frustrating trying to get everything adjusted. Tweak here and it screws up the adjustment over there. I have plyaing with mine for seven years now and have found that you make one small change try it then make another small change, etc.

The rollers in my Dart 1/4 windows are both broken too. I`ve been waiting almost a year for those rollers to be produced. If anybody has them it`ll be R/T Specialties as dgc333 mentioned.

I ended up getting the trim so it is vertical, but now the window is about 3/8th's of an inch from rolling up all the way. I guess I need to figure out which screw is the height adjustment, I'm pretty happy though. One more quick question my trim came off the from of my 1/4 window, what is the best glue or adhesive to put that back on and keep it on?

Thanks,

Rich

3M makes a good trim adhesive that`s stocked at most auto part stores. Until you get the rollers replaced it`ll be hard to get everything adjusted properly. There`s one roller in the there that has a metal pin in it and it`s the one roller that nobody has. If you find one let me know , I need a pair too.

I hope you guys inspected the door alignment before adjusting the windows.
Many times just a hindge rebuild makes everything fit like new.
