You hit the nail on the head there. Looks like 8 was designed for touch screens. Windows 7 works fine! I searched all over for a new laptop 6 months ago that had windows 7 on it. Finally found one. tmm

Usually not a good idea to run 2 antivirus programs. MS Security Essentials should be just fine alone.
Oh, don't forget to burn your repair disc set.
