I looked at the windshield gasket and set it in place. There is no pinch weld at the bottom of the windshield opening to hold the gasket in place. looks like it just sits there. Am I missing any parts? what holds the bottom of the gasket in place?

Run a bead of butyl caulk in bottom and squish it in... Napa has it in tubes. The rope style caulk is a little less mess for the top and sides.

Are you saying there's not a pinch weld lip where the the upper and lower cowls are spot welded together?

You should have 4 little tangs and provisions in the gasket for them rather than a continues fence.

And in front of each is a hole that should remain open to drain water to the cowl away from the seal

Thanks for all the answers. I guess nobody's windshield has fallen out yet from that design.

There is a pinch weld but it is horizontal and inward from where a fence would be. The 5 dash bolt go through it.
