Windshield Installation

Had a factory, 53 year old windshield installed in my 72 Demon last week by a couple of classic car guys...one of which was a professional glass installer.
I'm certainly no one to question a pro...hell, I'm no one to question anyone usually...but I had previously watched vids on A body windshield installation, and I seem to remember they used a sealant in the gasket and / or around the gasket.... These two guys said it wasn't needed.
Anyone out there have input or experience with windshield installs..?

The metal pinch/weld onto which the windshield is installed is not perfect. Sealer is used to insure that it seals.

I would have certainly questioned it... guess the "pros" have never read an FSM either.

The worst part of the design of our window openings is the LACK of pinch weld along the bottom of the window opening.

Had there been a continuous pinch weld all the way around the window opening it probably would be fine without sealer. As long as the glad was the correct thickness and the seal was also the correct dimensions. I had a 56 Ford pickup. I could remove the rear glass at will and due to the continuous pinch weld reinstall without any special tools or even a rope. (very flat window) I never saw it leak and it sat outside 24/7

I do remember the installer saying something about the pinch weld being good.
