Wiper Arm Color

Anyone know if wiper arms on a '71 Scamp ever came black? I'm thinking they were stainless, but the ones that were on my car when I bought it were black.

The guy I bought my car from had rattle-canned the entire interior black, so I'm not sure if this was another example of his paint obsession, or if it was original. They actually look kind of neat in black...

They were a satin finish stainless. Some polish them to a bright finish while others paint them. Paint wont stay on very long.

Thanks. Yeah, the paint that's on them is chipping, but I thought they'd look good black to go with the black vinyl top. Since this is a resto-modification, maybe I'll get them powdercoated black.
