can I use a 2 speed wiper motor instead of a 3 speed on a 1974 duster, and will I need a new pig tail and switch if it bolts up. Or what are some other options to have working wipers on my project. Obviously not doing a restore more of a resto mod. Just want to have working wipers, and a decent looking motor where I have to look at it in the engine bay. Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated. 20210109_182033.jpg

Mymopar.com has the schematics for both set ups. I have to agree with krazeykuda.

Decided to rebuild my three speed wiper motor today looks pretty good. Gonna test it tomorrow. Does any one know what wires to connect to 12 volt power to test it? Wanna check speeds and all before I install it incase I missed something when putting it back together.

        Bench testing procedure.

        Test #1(Hi speed)

Connect jumper wire from motor case to battery ground.
Connect second jumper wire from battery positive to BROWN lead.
Motor should run hi speed continuously.

        Test #2 (Lo speed)

Connect jumper wire from motor case to battery ground.
Connect jumper wire from GREEN wire to battery ground.
Join BROWN and RED wires together and connect a jumper wire from battery positive to them.
Motor should run at slower speed.

        Test #3 (Park)

Connect jumper wire from motor case to battery ground.
Connect jumper lead from GREEN to BROWN wire.
Connect jumper wire from red wire to ground.
Connect jumper wire from Blue wire to battery positive.
        Motor should reverse and park.

(Depending on where the motor had stopped the park feature may have a full rotation or very short rotation

One thing to check while doing your testing is that it returns to the park position. I disassembled mine when I converted it from B-body to A-body and it would park the wiper arms in the upright position. After taking it apart more than once some how I got it to park the wipers horizontally.

The cover plates positioning dictates where it stops, as it holds the switch that opens.

I have a 2 speed wiper motor and linkage from a 69 Barracuda parts car that I was thinking about cleaning up and selling, but I'd like to test it. Would you know that bench testing sequence? I assume this one was for the 3 speed wiper.
          Thanks.

The cover plate can be positioned in I believe three different orientations. I'd have to go grab one to look, but they used the same assemblies for A/B/E bodies and parking requires the cover plate to be located specific to each model line. The stop switch is on the cover, so clocking it correctly makes it stop in the right place.

And make sure your fingers are out of the way if you still have the drive link still attached!

Thanks. I went to that link, but it raised a question. Do you know the difference the difference between a concealed and non-concealed 2 speed wiper? The link appeared to assume I knew.
                  Thanks.
