I am going to rewire the Dart and was wondering if I up all the gages one size would it be sufficient...I am going to run a higher amp alternator and am planning at the minimum of 10 gage for that...but was just wondering as I am going to upgrade headlights to a style slantsixdan talked about...but other than that everythinh else will be pretty much stock...also where can I get better bulkhead connectors and just new connectors in general?

Thanks for the link...but I guess I should have said I am replacing all gages with aftermarket and a new dash insert...sorry...

When I rewired my cuda I used the same stock bulkhead connector except I removed from the car, removed the old wire and connector terminals, drilled out each slot with a 3/16" drill bit, reinstalled, and pushed each wire through the slots to the engine bay. Looks stock but there is no connector in each wire.

The big problem with the bulkhead is not the gauge sender wires, but rather the high current connections. I would run AT LEAST no8 through there, depending on how large your alternator is. Consider getting rid of the ammeter. Yeah, I know. I grew up "an ammeter man" myself.

Drilling out and upgrading wire size through the bulkhead is one way

Usually you can pull the bulkhead apart and SEE the problem with "meltage" to the plastic, obvious that the connectors have got hot.
