Hello all, im finally ready to get my car back on the road

I noticed my gas guage stays at empty no matter what when in fact it worked for sure before the the intake swap

i also had problems getting my temp gauge working but i eventually hooked up the right doo-dad to the golden stud to the intake

for reference i swapped from a stock 2 barrel intake to a edelbrock performer

Warning: there could be other wires i screwed up on lol BUT the car does run:cheers:

The fuel gauge sender wire is NOWHERE NEAR the intake. It comes off the gauge cluster, goes down to the connector in the left kick panel, in the harness to the tail lamps to the rear.

The gas gauge wire never even enters the engine bay

really? good to know, im working on a b body by the way

well i guess its just a coincidence that it started acting up after the intake swap.... OH i also changed my brake booster which was a B***H, but it did require me to roughly handle wires sometimes.. do you thing i could have messed up that way?

Donnoo.....you have a wiring diagram or a shop manual?

Exactly what is it you are working on?

The gauges get their power from the infamous instrument voltage limiter, and on some/ probably most clusters, it is possible that a specific gauge may lose power due to a bad connection.

If the gauge is getting power, the other thing you want to do is ground the sender wire, (at the tank) go back and switch on the ignition NO LONGER than necessary, and see if the gauge heads for the full mark

If that does not work, assume that the wire is broken somewhere between, and pull you left kick panel. Up in there is the connector for the tail lamp harness.

It comes up front through the left rocker panel, up into the kick panel, and there will be a multiple conductor cable and connector. Unhook that connector, get your wiring diagram, and ground the proper sender wire. Again, try the ignition and see if the gauge deflects. It appears that the wire in that harness to the sender is DARK BLUE

Be careful that you get the correct wire, because if you ground any of the lighting circuits and they happen to be energized, you'll pop a fuse.

If it does not, it's time to yank the cluster out of the dash and do some other checks
