WIW 67 Barracuda ? fastback. W PICS Is it worth it?

I am looking for a value because I believe the guy is asking too much and I was contemplating making him an offer.
OK, the car is a 67 fastback barracuda. An original 273 Formulas S auto console in Q5, those of you who know me, know I like the color, with white interior.
The good- body appears in pics, very straight, original paint wich is in dire need of repaint. all trim and badging is there however removed. all glass is there.
The altered- the original auto console is long gone as is the motor and trans and it now has a 4 speed hump welding in place(shoddy welding I am told) and 4 speed peddals in place).
The entire car is apart except the fenders, hood, doors, ect. All trim, dash, seats, engine compartment, everything is inside the cab of the car.
I was originally looking for a fastback to put a HEMI into down the road and wanted to paint it black, red white, ect. However I am just finishing the paint and body work on my 67 dart and its the same color with white interior. I have a soft spot for this color. So I would more than likely keep it this color use my 340 in it and then put a BB in my dart, which is what the 340 was originally for and find another 68 fastback for the HEMI?
So its missing some items and is all apart and needs a total resto but no rust and being apart actually does not bother me.
any ideas on a value, he wants 4K is that out of line out west? I was thinking closer to $2800-3K. His ad says 4K OBO, so I am guessing he will come down a bit. Am I off base/ spoiled or in the ball park with my numbers.? I will attach a pic tomorrow. :thumb:

Hey Redfastback. its all there except the front sindshield, 273 motor and trans and center console.

It also now has an 8 3/4 rear end and front disc brakes/ all small bolt pattern? And a 4 speed hump and A body pedals installed> the rest of the cars is all there all the small items and parts in many more pics I have since receoved. I offered him $2500 and he turned it down. I have not contacted him since.

I figured if I could get a decent deal then what the heck but if not, then I would pass. I have many projects ahead of it any ways. This 67 dart, my 68 RR and then the 72 340 Cuda I drive in highschool.

I just have this thing for 67-69 fastbacks and WANT ONE thats straight.

Might be a little high, but I am no expert. I paid $4k for my '67.... same condition with all original drivetrain (4-speed, build sheet, 8 3/4, ect.) and a complete new legendary interior set. That was 2 years ago in this coming July.

If the body is real solid, it might be worth paying what he wants just to avoid spending it later on body work, but again I am no expert...
