My Grandpa always said "Keep your head down and your powder dry". I have used this advice my entire life. He was a WWII AF glider pilot. These guys had balls. Imagine knowing that every flight that you do will be a controlled crash at night behind enemy lines.

For you non military types, the US Army has PS Magazine. It's a monthly booklet that looks like a comic and was originally drawn by Will Eisner. It's whole theme is Preventive Service and Maintainance.
I remember reading this:

"A slipping gear could let your M203 grenade launcher fire when you least expect it. That would make you quite unpopular in what s left of your unit."
— Page 9 of the August 1993 issue of PS magazine, the Army's magazine of preventive maintenance
Click on the quote, you can see the actual article.
BTW if you want to read PS Magazine, just click!
It's free, but you are going to a US Army website. So don't be surprised if your virus scan goes off. They are looking at you too!

Ol' SFC Half-Mast!!! or was he a MSG? Can't remember but I've read more of them than I care to remember. Always good info to get you by until you can get a hold of the TM for the piece of equipment you are monkeying with...
