You're Doing It Wrong!

I remember someone telling me about early corvette they were all white to hide the the horrible fiberglass work
If you make it smooth it's not correct

I remember someone in the tire shop days asking to line up his hub caps so they all face the same ....
Told him it doesn't work that way

I feel like any restored car is over restored. A few years ago a couple low mileage 340 Dusters came up for sale locally. My buddy and I booked over to check them out. The one car had 25,000 miles on it and was truly a cream puff, original tires and all. It is neat to see cars that are untouched originals just to see how they really looked when they were new. I was amazed to see all the brush strokes in the lead where the 1/4 panels meet the roof skin. The green one is the 25,000 mile car. The gold one is 75,000 mile car and keeps popping up on Ebay here lately.

That why they vinyl topped them
I remember some show (maybe *** monkey or a spin off)
And they were so happy to find a factory black car cause they were the pick of the litter to beable to paint it black

And valve stems at 12 o clock when parked at the show of course...
How far do you want to move the goal posts? Valve stem at 12 o clock? That's easy....
How about lining up the tire lettering so when the valve stems are all at 12 o clock so are the tire lettering...
How about when building an engine, or assembling the sheet metal having dozens upon dozens of extra OE logo bolts so they can be swapped out till all the bolt markings line up the same way....
Yes I know someone who builds stuff at that level.... People are willing to pay him for that level of insanity & he's happy to provide it.... For a price...

Yeah there are alot of nerds and dorks in the game I saw it at a car show this past Saturday alot of elitists. Its real easy to spot them if you just start talking to them. I came across a Fox body Mercury Capri convertible said to the guy "is this yours? I have a triple White 86 Mustang GT vert" he then schooled me on how his is a Mclaren only 500 made they had to cut the top off a capri hatch back (yeah that's how they made all Fox Verts, but I let him talk) anyway it got old quick I said "have a nice show" and walked off...car was nice but it was an 84 Black tan leather interior not worth the millions he thinks it is because of the Mclaren mod. Maybe its worth 20K... alot of these guys bought a car and the hype that came with it now they are experts and investors etc.
