Low Beams and Highbeams both went out

Think I fixed my lowbeams. Pulled the carpet up and the plug was loose on the dimmer, and the black wire was coming out of the socket, then one prong broke on the dimmer switch. Went out to my favorite parts car(78 Dodge Sportsman motorhome)pulled the dimmer out and also took the molded plug...

Low Beams and Highbeams both went out

I had a similar thing happen tonight with my 67 Dart about a mile out of town and noticed my low beams going out just for a split second, stopped for ice cream, got to the edge of town, then the low beams would go out for a full second or so, tail lights were still working, ended up driving home...

    Fender Mounted Turn Signals

My 67 Dart only the fender indicators work. Maybe I will check and put the dash indicator bulbs in also, because I have a hard time seeing the passenger side fender indicator when it lights and I don't want to be that guy that drives for miles with my right turn signal on.

    aftermarket gauges into light switch

Good you got it fixed, I was going to suggest the obvious, either a fuse or the dimmer in the headlight switch was bad. Aaron

    Charging System

I have/had a GM one wire alternator on a 318 in my 51 Plymouth. I had the same alternator on the flathead six, then switched it over to the 318, I made a mount for the 318 using the rear mount of a power steering pump, and a universal strap, and some 12 gauge steel. Used the GM cause at the...

    Wire Mapping

I use a small video camera with a built in digital camera for 2 reasons one I already had it, and two then I can take video of the said part and pan back and forth and have extra evidence if I forgot anything. I think I had pics of the engine compartment saved on another computer.

    headlight problem.. help!??

Don't know if this is much help, but...I had a 72 Fury and the headlights would just go out, I would just keep stepping on the dimmer switch and eventually they would come back on, replaced the dimmer switch, thought that fixed it until it did it again, then replaced the headlight switch and it...

    Wire Mapping

Take plenty of pics. I didn't on my 67. I figured it wouldn't be apart that long that I would forget where everything went, yeah right! I did leave all of the relays, voltage regulator, ballast resistor hooked up to the wiring, though, so when it came time to reinstall the wiring I just...

    Light help

I will check that. Also the emergency flasher flash, but the turn signals don't flash either side, have to make a parts store run anyway so I will pick up a new flasher for the turn signals. Aaron

I noticed on my 67 Dart that when the four ways are on, that the console shifter light is also blinking. What would cause this and how do I fix it? Thanks Aaron

    Car starts without key!

Just something to check is there still 2 wires running to the starter. You said the previous owner put a push button start in it. On circle track cars we run a copper strip from the bug lug to the small lug on the starter, then run the big cable to one side of a Ford starter solenoid, then a...

    Elec. Wiper Motor 6V.

My 51 Plymouth had 6 volt electric wipers. I also had a 49 Dodge pickup that I rebuilt the vacuum wiper motor, ok I just took it apart cleaned it and greased it up and made a gasket out of a cereal box. The secret I found to the vacuum wipers was to step on the gas then let off and the wipers...

    somedistributor questions

67 Dart, 273 2barrel Was the distributor painted from the factory? I assume it was from seraching here. Any thoughts on leaving it bare? How do you get the paint and crud out of all of the crevices? As long as I have it out should I rebuild it, or are there parts I should replace? Running...

    Petronix thoughts

I have run Petronix I, on 2 cars and never had trouble. I always thought about picking up a spare to carry with just in case. If memory serves its a HAL effect ignition and when it works it works good, when it fails it don't work at all.

    Sirius radio/Electrical Dunce

Try turning the plug after plugging it in, sometimes the contacts have to be lined up just so. I think it is on my 12 volt cell phone charger that I have to have it lined up just right in the lighter socket on my Dakota to get power.

    74 Tailight Problems

Just something to check, on my 67 Dart 4 door I had one taillight bulb the kept burning out, I was following someone else drving it one night and I saw water sloshing around in the housing, I drilled a small drain hole and it didn't burn out after that. Apperantly the water hitting the hot bubl...

    Painless wiring???

I think the reason for the Chevy wire colors and connections is the whole street rod/350 Chevy bs. Because they (street rodders)would use as much of the engine donor car as possible. Painless offers an add on that gives an additional 8 keyed circuits. I used one of these to wire the 12 volt...

    bypassing interlock system

Had a 75 Duster with the seatbelt interlock, the seatbelts were buckled and tucked in the seats, the underseat wires were unplugged, usually started fine, but every one in a while(seems like it did it mostly when it was raining)I would have to pop the hood and push the reset button. Finally I...

    Battery where from

Need a new battery, not worried about authenticity, have heard recomendations to stay away from department stores (one inparticular, starts with Wal- ends with mart), as far as motorcycle batteries. Had something to do with the way they prep them where they don't get a full charge intitially...

    Wires, What are they?

I know that the 75 Dusters had the safety/seatbelt interlock(mine used to decide to work only when it was damp out and I would have to get under the hood and use a nail to poke the button on the interlock). It seems like it was either located on the firewall just above the steering cloumn or...

    Variable speed wipers

My 67 Dodge Dart 270 4 door had the variable speed windshield wipers, my 67 Gt Conv. has the standard 2 speed wipers. I have always wondered what would it take to convert the GT over to the variable speed wipers?

    interior and brake lights??

Wonder if they put those two on the same circuit on purpose. I had a 75 duster (a beater)that if my interior light didn't work I knew to check to see if I had brake lights.

    Distributor hold down, battery tray

Been cleaning and blasting small parts. When I blasted the paint off of the distributor hold down, it appears that it is copper plated underneath the paint. Are they all like this? The copper color would not blast off. I was going to see if I could save the battery tray, but it looks to be...

    sources for starter wiring

When I pulled the engine I couldn't get the small nut off of the starter, so I just cut the wire, thought I will just get a repro., just checked year one, and ouch! $155. Is there another source anyone knows of, or should I just splice the wire back together. Thanks
