    Whether what your seeing is normal or not depends on how long it's been since the pan was last dropped and cleaned. If you got about a 1/2 teaspoon of filings and its been a couple of years since the last inspection I'd say make no changes and run her. Always change the oil filter "regardless"...

    Also, if that Super Bee has the big assed front drum brakes check to make sure one of them hasn't thrown it's balancing weight. If it's gone it will have left a rusty square picture of the old weight.

    Ain't broke my 741 with a BB in front of it, the bananaskins break loose long before. [-o< Had a heavier 69 Runner years ago with a 383 4 speed and a 741 and couldn't hurt it either.

    Checking the joints for slop is only one of the checks, they also need to be checked for being seized and the only way to do that properly is remove the shaft at the pinion yoke, pull the entire shaft assembly out of the tranny and physically check that all the cups are free not frozen or feel...

    A small of material in the pan is normal especially after rebuilding or installing a new tranny. Get everything cleaned up, I'd even replace the filter since the pans off anyway and recheck it in 6 months. If you're still seeing a lot of debris then I'd be concerned.

    You're in that deep always replace the bearings and 150 for assembly and set is a good price.

    Could be all of the above. First- with the engine hot idling in neutral pull the tranny dip stick and check the level. Also look at the oil is it a nice red or dark almost brown, smell it, is it burnt. Second- Check that the kickdown linkage is adjusted properly, kickdown lever on tranny...
