this is how outta touch fiat is....

Things are a bit more cutthroat in Germany. The limited and llc companies are modeled a after the German GmbH but thankfully there's more rules about that kind of thing here.

this is how outta touch fiat is....

Not in a limited liability company. 51% and you can change management, but that's usually done in the event of a hostile takeover. The new management however has limited power. There's laws in place to protect the company, and primarily, the interests of the shareholders, governing what the new...

this is how outta touch fiat is....

Not sure abot the rest of the world, but in the united states 51% is a simple majority and you can make basic policy changes, but cannot make any large decisions. In order to do anything big or own the corporation, you must have a 75% share. Right now Fiat owns 50.5% of Chrysler. I stand by what...

this is how outta touch fiat is....

Technically no, you need a 3/4 majority in most countries in order to officially "run" a company. Anything less, and you're just a shareholder. And even then, there's lots of laws regarding what you can, and can not do.

this is how outta touch fiat is....

Well the title of the thread is "This is how out of touch Fiat is." My whole point was that it wansn't Fiat, or Fiat's influence on Chrysler, but some bonehead in marketing that can't tell the difference between a Hemi and a Wedge. Then I got sidetracked and went off on a tangent that was...

this is how outta touch fiat is....

You all realize that Fiat doesn't OWN Chrysler, right? They're not in charge... Chrysler is in charge of Chrysler. Fiat owns 55% of Chrysler, the UAW owns the rest. That's how they all work. The Canadian govt owns 12% of GM, the us govt owns 20%, and the UAW owns the rest. Fiat and Chrysler have...

    American restorations!

Might want to see it in HD. They do great work. And horrifyingly enough, a lot of that stuff actually goes for prices like that. Some collectors have too much money.

I'm a friggin' stupid, idiot, moron...

You could always take it to a machine shop and have them drill, tap, and plug the crack. If you haven't seen the process, they drill a hole in the crack, tap it, and then thread in and break off a plug, then drill out part of the plug while drilling the next hole in the series, tap it, and repeat.

    Lookie what I saw today

I love how everyone sees a duster parked in about half an inch of snow, and automatically assumes the owner must be some baby eating satanist hell-bent on destroying a perfectly good Mopar. Maybe he loves his car and is ok driving it every day. It's just a car people. I drive my dart no matter...

    I love my community.

And here I live in one of the, if not the most dangerous state in the country. We have three cities on the top 25 most dangerous list (Lansing, Detroit, and Flint). Wish I could tell heart warming stories lol.

    New Redline Charger 590HP/426ci

Fords sales are plummeting amidst brand wide quality issues. I agree that the Charger is expensive, but Chrysler has always positioned their cars above Ford and GM in the market (not saying they were always worth it, but you get what I'm saying) As far as Chrysler producing crap goes, I would...

    New Redline Charger 590HP/426ci

You all do realize that there is a 2 door 6 speed Charger, right? It's called the Challenger. Same platform, same engine and rear end.... Seriously people, not EVERY car a company builds can be a two door six-speed rwd HEMI monster. You have the Chally, why would you want something different...

I do all my machine work, both heads an block, as well as my own assembly, but then again, I'm blessed to be able to go to school for automotive high performance.

    90's "muscle car" choices?

Here's another vote for the Dakota. Seriously, 2wd, 5 speed, 318 or 360 (if you can find one), and it still weighs less than the Camaro or Mustang. I had a Trans Am, it was nice, but it was a total pig. Weighed a lot more than it should have, and handled like a land yacht.

I ain't stoppin for this stupidity

Actually there's been a lot of talk lately about going to some sort of "sonic boom" type siren instead of the conventional system. The thinking being that with sound insulation being what it is, it's getting harder for people inside cars to hear the sirens. I doubt the car actually beat boxes...

    Maryland vehicle requirements?

To my knowledge, age doesn't generally affect vehicle requirements other than seat belts, lighting, the stuff that has changed over the years. I have a hard time imagining they would let you run without a hood, fenders or what have you just because your car is classified as antique.

words used incorrectly in the car world

I understand that, but even though they are all the same, its the branding. If it's a Chevy, it's a posi, if it's a Mopar, it is (or was, anyway) a Sure Grip. You wouldn't call a Torqueflite a Turbo hydromatic would you?
  22. G

words used incorrectly in the car world

When Mopar guys use the term Posi. It's done all the time. Posi-traction was the Chevy limited slip, the proper term is Sure Grip. *gets of self righteous soap box*

finally found the car i wanted but you will hate me

I'm gonna warn you bud, I had an 86 T/A 305 before the Dart, and I'll tell you they're heavy cars. They ride real hard at low speeds, and not as nice as an A body on the highway. They're not as fast as they should be. If you do get it, don't pull the digital dash out. Leave it in, the Camaro...

    New Ride In The Family

It's called a Clutchflite. It's a modified 727 attached to a manual style clutch. So basically an auto where you need to use the clutch before it can change gears. They were big in racing in the 70's and 80's.
