Sunday. Said it was a "tall deck" 340 Resto block. Don't remember the specifics...think DionR is right with the stroke...I do remember him saying it was a Siamese block. Pretty sure he is racing the Summit Series at Spokane County Raceway, if he is I will get the specifics on bore/stroke.

Great to meet you. Sorry I was a bit of a scatterbrain, had a lot running thru my head. Car has 3.5" exhaust out the back. Someone backed into the right quarter. Body guy had to spray from the stripes back to get it to blend. Something fell on the roof as well. Car is very impressive.

If I remember correctly his name is Jeff Bell. He said he used to build motors. Have a video or 2 of it.

Finally got a chance to talk to this guy. Car was running 9.70's on a less than ideal track. 455" small block with a 904 behind it. Said that anything that was available aftermarket for the trans is in it. Has a complete original factory interior...minus the radio that he just took out. One...

    80 & 85 mph speed limits

I15 in Utah has been 80mph since at least 2012, if I remember right. Why the interest? You have a death wish or something? Your typical A-body is not going to be a very happy camper at 90mph...much less enjoyable at that speed.

    Iron 2G HEMI blocks...

This made me laugh...and made me think of HEMI John. Rumor was he worked in the parts department of the Chrysler dealer on 46 in Parsippany. Heard all kinds of rumors about him. Ends up my Dad knew him from putting gutters on his place. The rumors ended up being true. Damn near anything that...

    Iron 2G HEMI blocks...

Emailed a few shops today, one of them being FHO. Tim apparently purchased Keith Black Racing...according to his site... His response... "Hi Doug, the supply of iron blocks dried up some time ago. Any that my customers do find, seem to be seconds, as they have defects everywhere. Yes, we have KB...

    Iron 2G HEMI blocks...

I know for a while that Muscle Motors had them on their site but don't see them... I know that Keith Black was recently purchased by For Hemis Only...but from what I understand blocks are unavailable...never mind the $$ end of an aluminum block...

    When you appreciate safety equipment......

I was helping a couple of friends in the pits...they were road racing a Honda CBR600F2. Ex wife was the time keeper....she was the first to know when something wasn't right. Lisa showed me the stop watch...Joe was 10 seconds off of his usual lap times. Soon as I reached for the binoculars the...

    When you appreciate safety equipment......

Not a car but.....first new street bike. Even back then I knew to not get behind heavy trucks with dual wheels....just never know what may be wedged between them. Had bike and brand new helmet for a week. Driving down a 2 lane road, approaching a cement mixer. Was hanging back a bit...just about...

    Where to start?

Thick skin....that's a door that only swings one way here. I have to endure all the crap....but when I make a comment about a generic butt stripe, piss yellow or puke green paint, bondo work done with a shovel, a slant build etc.....I am told (hate this pc line) "if you ain't got nothing nice to...

    Where to start?

I get what you are saying. Thanks to a very slow Internet connection it will take me hours to create a thread with pictures. Can think of a ton more productive ways to spend my time creating a thread only to hear the Slowpar chest thumping. I use IPage for my email. I know part of the package I...

    Where to start?

Build thread...have thought about it. Have a hard time dealing with all the haters. I keep my mouth shut when I see someone doing another generic butt stripe...or painting THEIR car one of the hideous lime green or pinks...why can't others just show me the same courtesy? Now that I have started...

    Where to start?

I did look into an "off the shelf" setup. $1800 for a 05-13 go pedal, a harness, E38 ECM, T42 TIM...programmed. Spoke with a local guy, he used to work/tune at West Tech...he was one of the guys who did the article on a wrecking yard TT build...Stock GM LS Engine - Big Bang Theory - Hot Rod...

    Where to start?

Had a few minutes today to myself. Went out to the garage and sat on the stool....and stared....at the Dart.....and the miscellaneous boxes of stuff....and well.....felt a bit overwhelmed. It is painted...has a cage, mini-tub/springs relocated. Subframe connectors. What next? Have lots of...

Worst case of Barrett-Jackson disease ever!

Years ago there was a 69 Nova sitting in a lot on my route to work. Keep in mind it was Az so the car had a pretty much baked interior and the paint was cooked. For sale sign had a number. 6 cylinder, auto. Stripper...guy wanted $10,000. Couldn't help but laugh in his face...he informed me that...

RustyRatRod's Guide To Hot Rod Bliss

I explained to him about my old truck. Was a 4×4 Ranger, came with a 2.8 v6. Swapped in a 302 with a c4. Truck had 4.10's in it. When I first built it it had 29" tall tires on it. With a bit of trimming/hammering was able to get 31's under it. Had a quiet exhaust on it. But thanks to a lot of...

RustyRatRod's Guide To Hot Rod Bliss

Just had this discussion with my head doc. He is one of those folks that is all about the motor. Big cam, even bigger carb. Stock convertor and gears. Nope....never been done....ever....:wack: Just messing with you...I don't understand what the fascination is with "340's" anymore. This ain't 1972 anymore. Restoring a numbers car...go for it. But if not why spend the extra $$ on it? Toss in a stroker crank and why in the world would anyone...
