Sending the crankshaft out to get resized and correct bearings. Gonna put the engine together stock for now just so I can get it running.

I THOUGHT YOU WERE DEAD!!! Rumor had it that your wife found out the retirement fund was spent on Viper parts and decided to cash in on your insurance policy. :poke:

Any progress on the body mods? :)

I see the peanut gallery found me already!!!!! The wife sealed up my hood scoop inserts today.

Believe it or not, there is forward progress.

Have the 5.7 at the engine shop having the crank fitted with new bearings and the pistons fitted with new rings. Wooo Hoooo!!! Something to make pretty and put together! Pic later. lol

Finally got some pics of the right tail light housing flush with the body opening

So you just toss that in at the end?????

All it would do is make
"FrankenCuda" into a "Fire Breathing FrankenCuda"

This would be another improvement BUT.......would delay completion???

Got to work on the Cuda today for an hour or so. WOOOOO HOOOOOO!!!
Trimmed the 300 roof down to line up on the Cuda roof. Going to trim down a little more in the morning and maybe cut the center out of the roof of the Cuda. :) 67 Cuda with a power sunroof, kinda like that.

The outer framework has some stiffening braces in it that I will prolly have to trim down also and fit inside after the skin is positioned. I think I will only need the side ones, if at all. We will see how well the smaller roof fits and how strong it will be. The Cuda roof is a lot smaller than the 300 so it might not need the extra support that the 330 needed cuz it was so big.

Been so busy with "work" stuff lately. I really miss the Cuda. LOL Oh, and it's deer hunting season too. So that makes for even less time. GGRRRRRR

How do you plan to get the curvature (radius) of the new top to match the Barracuda top??

The only real huge mismatch is the rear corners. In the pic the rear is sitting higher because of the inner structure for the window mechanism to mount to. After I cut the Cuda roof to make clearance, it will sit a lot better on the roof. If everything goes well, I should only have to curve the rear corners a little bit to get to the same form. I might even cut the rear corners diagonally to make fit better. All in all, it's pretty close. :)

Worked on the roof this morning.

Marked the roof about 1/2"-3/4" inboard of the perimeter of the new top. Took some masking tape and made some cuts with the cutoff wheel.

Put the new top on and drew a line on the underside of the new top to get the hole size after I squared the top up in the center of the roof.

Cut the excess off the new top about a 1/2" wider than my marking lines. I want it to overlap the old roof for extra strength.

Here I'm using my flanging tool to make a step in the original roof metal.

Here's a pic of the original roof and the surface rust from lack of paint for 50 years. lol

The new top fit really close to the Cudas roof curvature.

As you can see, it came out almost perfect with the original roof. Some minor tweeking and a lot of welding and grinding, no one will ever see any difference.
Ha, a 1967 Cuda fastback with a power sunroof, awesome. :)

There's still a bunch of welding and grinding to do. At Least 2-3 hours worth. So far, about 3 hours total. (putting the sunroof in, not the chop.)
