A 1974 Duster - My 2nd one, 41 years later!

Did you mount that dual snorkel scoop on there? Kind of a pain in the neck when I did it.

I have drilled all the holes in the hood for the dual snorkel yes, so it is ready to bolt on.....But the hood needs to be painted satin black before I can mount the scoop to the hood.

Thanks Dave! Thanks Guys!

Alex

This one color side shot makes it easier to see what a beauty she's going to be, but that monster under the hood will definitely put a period on it! All your time and energy is really paying off Alex!

Alex, my scoop would not lay perfectly flat until I did some sanding on the fiberglass posts that line up with each hole. Just a thought for you

Got the hood off the top of the car so I can get that painted in the buff colored epoxy.

Thanks for posting Alex! It's good to see your progress. I was following a lot of builds, and then it seemed that everyone stopped posting. Not sure why, but it's good to see you!

Decided "We don't need no stinkin' badges"! Welded up the "Duster" badge holes. You really don't know how "Not straight" things are until you get the long block out. Got the glazing putty out, she's straight now.

That is so funny you guys. All the time someone will show up at my shop and when they see the car they always say....Is that a Nova?.....or they'll say....Nice Chevelle! Of course I frown at them and say......"Come'on really"?

lol that's the first thing I ever said to you in person "Nice Nova"

Thanks Oliver70 and everyone. Been lots of long block sanding going on. I'll be turning the car around so I can shoot the passenger side in the beige epoxy. Then I'll move onto shooting the whole car at one time in Kirker's Perfect Prime gray 2K. Gonna shoot the 2K in gray...that way this rookie will know if I am sanding through to the epoxy.

LOL.... yes Dave...I think Higgs knows it goes on the wheel. I think he was zeroing it....prior to going on the wheel.

Here she is turned around, I have been working on getting this side as straight as possible at this stage. Beige epoxy coming soon to this side.

Did some metal shrinking to the front of the hood where the previous owner had not been so careful. It was "oil canning" in the front, but a hot torch and quick cooling took care of that. Taillight bezels are going to be body colored so they will be getting a shot of epoxy too.

Alex, your scoop fits nice and flat huh? Bought mine from Classic Industries. Where did yours come from?

My scoop does fit nicely, agreed. It came from FABO member: Jaws (Dave)...I think he had it on a car he used to race. Maybe he knows where it came from.

No idea, got it at a garage sale out here.
