Let all be warned about ordering parts from Jimsautoparts.com. I've
ordered other parts from them before without any issues. I just ordered some clips for my heater box and 1st problem was the lady taking the order on the phone said they had a $30 minimum(not mentioned on their web site). So I ordered a gasket that just put me over $30. These parts maybe weigh 6 ounzes and can easily fit in one hand. They ship it to me FedEx -signature required and want to charge me $17 for shipping!!!(never
had to sign for anything I bought from them before and didn't get that kind of shipping charge for much bigger parts) They are located in Salem, NH and I am in Hudson, Ma - what 40 miles away. I called them about it and got the same lady - very rude. I told her that I am going to refuse delivery and wanted delisted because I will never order from them again. She told me that I would never be ever to order from them again anyway because I'm refusing a shipment.
Also, they do not ship by mail, and don't send out confirmation emails
on what you ordered and how much it is going to cost.
The rude lady just called me and informed me they WILL take the parts back if I refuse shipment but WILL KEEP THE SHIPPING charges.
Needles to say, I told her what she could do with her company. NEVER,
EVER WILL I order anything from them again. Oh yea, she told me they just implemented the signature required because too many people
were returning stuff -- gee, I wonder why!!!

Thanks for the heads up. Service is the name of the game in my book.
"Word of mouth marketing can help as well as hurt your business"

Same thing happened to me a few years ago, and from what I have heard many many others. I am also 30 minutes from them and will sell my car before doing business with them ever again.

Well you've been indoctrinated to the feeble business practices of Jim's. If you would have asked here prior to purchasing, you'd have got a heads up.

Run away fast, smack self in head, next time you want to buy anything and think about Jim's.

I see you called and spoke with the "nice" lady that rides a broom for transportation.

There are much better vendors to deal with than those jerks.... Dante's, Jacks, Nick Classics.

Word!

I tried to deal with them a couple times, and like Year One, it was only for stuff I couldn't find anywhere else.

I would like to see that set up from the inside, and see if my visual is even close.

I picture it as old converted gas station, that still sells fish bait, rents U-Hauls, and she has a pack of Marlboro's rolled up in the sleeve of her shirt.

Jim is always down at the corner bar, and leaves the business to the "better half."

Over the years I've seen Jim's and Layson's top the "Most Wanted" list with probably Mitchell's not far behind.

Hey at least you got your money back for the parts. I ordered a W5 intake from them. Seems they are the only ones that have any left, I dont have to wonder why. Lol. Anyways they took my money and never sent the parts. The "rude" (putting it kindly) cursed up a storm when I tried to get my money back then when I filed a charge back with my credit card they out and out lied and said they sent it and had my signature. Long story short, if they were 40 miles away from me I would be in jail right now. NEVER EVER DO BUSINESS WITH JIMS AUTOPARTS! If we all band together they wont be long for this world taking money, no stealing money from good people.

WOW! I was going to send them a link to this but they have no "contact us" access. Now I see why...... thanx for the heads up

We could have someone who is close by Jim's, go and buy it in person, then ship it (honestly).

The only reason I offer that up is:

1) I live near Jim's

2) We've all been there.....can't find the part anywhere, so you have to make a deal with the devil.

Just sayin', that in the event of a super rare, can't find it anywhere else....

Just my $.02

Hey Berlins, I would dispute the $17 charge with your credit card company. There is a good chane you will win, if not it won't cost you anything extra and cause them some time a grief dealing with it!
Dont get mad, get even!

Yeah, the two times I had to deal with them, they were the only ones that had my convertible roof rail weather strip. She tried like heck to sell me all the rest of the stuff, but I wouldn't take it.

Then another time, they were the only ones showing the windlace for a 65 Barracuda. Their choices were black, black and black, which was fine if you wanted black. Fortunately, Legendary found me the red stuff in time to cancel the Jim's order.

I was trying to order some stuff from them too. I spoke with the "rude" lady and I asked how much shipping an handling would be and she said she needed my credit card first. I said "bye bye"!

If you must deal with a vendor, put a stipulation that if it cost in excess of $xx to ship including any handling fees, the vendor is to contact and get approval.

Send a follow up e-mail to them after the conversation stating the same.

BTW, Jim's is FAMOUS for this type of thing. $2 in actual postage and charge $20 for shipping.

I just bought a few things from Mancinis. The shipping per the site was right at $20. I called and spoke with one of the salesman and asked if they used flat rate USPS. They did. Said, if it's going to cost more than 10-12 to ship call me first. Shipped items in Flat Rate, $10.20 shipping.

I think some of the parts places are banking on making thier living off shipping charges. I ordered a single piston ring and paid $20 S&H charge! Yea, I snapped a ring during the build but that's not the point. I didn't pay that much in shipping when I bought the whole set.

Going there in person to pick up parts sounds good but I tried that too. They tell you NO. There is no part I would buy from them no matter how bad I needed it.
I live 30 minutes from them.

WOW, thanks everyone for all the support!! Sounds like everyone has been screwed by
Jim's "rude" lady. Don't know how they stay in business with her as their sales staff. BTW, I haven't seen any credit back to my credit card so I did submit a dispute with
Jim's on the credit card bill. Why do I have a strange feeling I won't see a dime back?
I am really addicted to this site. I pretty much check out this site for info before I do
anything on my old Dart - very very helpfull.

Well, they potentially lost upwards of 15000 customers thanks to your post. That should be some type of satisfaction for you.
I'll never deal with jimsauto. Thanks for the heads up.

MOPOWER OF THE PEOPLE!!

I bought some Mopar Performance bb black wrinkle valve covers from Jims about 8 years back. Actually, according to the description on their website, I was buying the valve cover "set" which included gaskets and bolts. When it arrived, it was just the covers. I complained to them that it wasn't what I ordered. Their excuse was that Mopar didn't offer the sets any longer and I'd have to buy the gaskets and bolts separately. They said I could send the covers back for a refund, but the shipping charges both ways were on me. I learned then to avoid these guys like the plague.

Wow,I was thinking of ordering from them, but forget you Jims!:thebirdm:
Robs right, there are other places for parts.
I wonder how they managed 31 years in business.

I'm new to this site, but have heard the tales about "Jims" at other places on the web. They can't survive with an attitude like that.............jas
