Ok, I have seen registries for all other A-bodies. Where is the Registry for the 67-69 Barracuda's. I am curious to know about how many 68 Fastback Formula "S" Cuda's there are left. I have been told that mine is 1 of 396 383 automatic on the floor "S" cars produced in 1968. I know there are far less left.

Any ideas??

I haven't seen one yet, but if I find one i'll let you know. Mine is a '68 340 S fastback, Auto on the floor W/ p/s, a/c, and some odd options.

I just did a search today for the same thing, about 3 hours ago- nothing out there.
There are a few websites with similar production info, such as this one:
http://cuda383s.barracudaowners.org/figures.htm

I was trying to locate when the first, and last, 67 383 rolled off the assembly line as well.
Mine is a 67 383 4 speed bench. It came with the performance indicator, driver mirror, and hood insulator pad, and nothing else- not even a radio.

Maybe we should start a registry?

I found this old newspaper article:

I agree, I emailed Govier a few years ago. I gota pkg in the mail outlining how much $$ he wanted to talk on the phone.....Mine is 69 340 4spd ragtop "S" Approx 1 of 34, it would be nice to know how many are left. I bumped into a guy at moparfest, his was a 68 or 69, cant remember, but 383 4spd ragtop. His was the only other 4spd ragtop "S" I have seen. If anyone wants to start up a registry I will help with what I can.

Ragtops are even more rare. Most "S" cars were 4 speeds. I posted this topic some time ago on moparts and got the production numbers for 67 up. I will look to find that post and add the link.

4SPDRAGTOP,
I had planned on sending my buildsheet and VIN to Galen. Did he say that he can do this??? I need the fender tag and was going to register it with him.

I searched the other site and they only keep the threads 3 years. I guess it has been longer since that post.

I found this,

1969 Barracuda 383 Formula S Convertibles 17
1969 Barracuda 383 Cuda Hardtop 83
1969 Barracuda 340 Formula S Convertibles 83
1969 Barracuda 383 Formula S Hardtop 98
1969 Barracuda Cuda 340 Hardtop 98
1969 Barracuda 6 Cylinders Convertibles 248
1969 Barracuda 340 Formula S Hardtop 325

I cant remember, but he basically didnt offer me anything until I paid $$$ up front. No build sheet with my car, but I still have orig fendertag. I have a few of his small "white books" that have great info. Contrary to what you mentioned, I believe the auto "S" was more common. Not trying to argue, this is just what I remember. I would NOT send orig build sheet or fendertag. Send a rubbing of fendertag and photocopy of buildsheet. Also try hammtrack historical, there is something on here about them. I will see what I can dig up.

I would like to join too.
A -67 Fastback Formula S 383 4-speed, sold to Sweden in May 1967.

My thread on moparts had a pasted production list that showed how many 68's were produced. It was either 395 or 398 383's with Auto and well over 700 were 4 speeds. I had asked about production numbers for QQ1 but was advised that they did not keep up with the colors or options until 1969.

I went to Galan's site and he requests a photo copy of the build sheet. I would never send the original.
I need the fender tag repopped. My car was rescued from being butchered and turned into a racecar. It was bought new in Oklahoma from what the guy I purchased it from stated. Another thing I noticed was the numbers stamped into the radiator support and left trunk gutter was not the VIN. It is acually the shipping number on the 1968. The VIN wasn't stamped until 1969.

I've been saving pics of 67-69 Barracudas, (not as many 69 as 68/67), with pics of the fender tags, and if its there the buildsheet, for over 2 years- maybe more.
I did this to try to determine where my car was in relation to other Barracudas, build date, color, tranny, etc, and more importantly to record and understand the different fender tag codes.

I started to put all the info I have together, and I want to put it up on a website- the only thing preventing me is I am not convinced people will provide information on their own cars so I can add to the info I have.

In the past I offered to 'decode' fender tags and build cards on here to add to the info I have, but I have not had much luck- people don't want to provide info that is personal, or they consider personal, especially these days.

I also re-created a build card on excel, that will 'decode' your build card and create the fender tag. I even input the prices for each option with the base price and it calculates how much the car was new! (that last piece I only did for the 67).
Finally, I recreated the build sheet in excel as well, see below. I need to round the corners still, but I'll get to it soon.

I have cataloged alot of info on options and what they were on the build card and fender tag, but I know I do not have all of it- I need more info.

If you guys are willing to send me info I can get this going. It would mean pics of the car, fender tag, build sheet, and if you have a 67 the build card.

I don't mind! All I have is the buildsheet from the back seat. I have a photo of my BS somewhere. I will send it to ya once I locate it.

There actually was a Formula S Registry at one time. When I got my first computer with internet in the mid 90's I found it on AOL. I listed the '69 340-S that I had at the time. I looked but haven't seen it in a long time (the registry or my 69). Still looking.

I would love to be part of a 67-69 reg. Who knows, maybe I would run across my old '67... Or better yet my Dads '69 340-S 4spd notch that he ordered new.

Its in pretty good shape for 42 years old eh?

IMHO matthon did a great job decoding my car, telling me what I had, providing me with lots of extra info, some documentation and seemed very happy to do it. A very good FABO member.

Hello all,
I have a sad story about a 67 383-4sp fastback I had but still have. 31yrs ago I got it from a kid that stored it in a dirt floor garage in Minneasota. The garage was built into a hill.
The motor was stuck and the car was VERY rusty. When I was loading it on the trailer
the front frame rails broke under the firewall and the inner fenders folded the firewall into the back of the dash, and one leaf spring front and rear mount mushed into the trunk till the tire rested inside the wheel house. I still have most everything that could be
unbolted and saved. Drivetrain, K-member with 4 piston discs, quick ratio manual steering box. Fender tag, title, dash, most of the interior, Trim & emblems. Exaust manifolds.
As much as I could save. So there is one gone out of a set of rare cars. but with the VIN and title and fender tag we know which one if there will be a list someday.
A history car in a box. It might have been able to be restored now with all the great
parts the aftermarket is makeing. But in 1979 you could not replace the bottom 20 inches
of a 12yr old car. Sometimes I poke thru the boxes with bagged parts from that car and
just wish it 30yrs forward, so it might of had a chance.
If someone would like to move this to it"s own thread so others might reminiss and give
a lost car a shared moment and memory, please feel free.
I still have my original 69 340-4speed swinger that I bought 12 weeks before the cuda.
Take care,
Rick

Well its not a formula S but its a cuda. Its a 1968 with a 318/ 904, burgundy paint, white vinyl roof, white and red interior.

I feel your pain! Sad the life of some Mopars. When I was 11 I would ride my bike around the corner from my old house and this fella had a 1967 "Hemi" GTX sitting under a pole barn on stumps. Was red with red interior. I would drool peeking through the windows at that 4 speed shifter. My pops was queer for this car. Had less than 7000 miles on it. It sat on 4 stumps so the original redline tires stayed round. The old man talked to me for a couple of years until I asked if I could buy it. He got pretty angry and went on telling me about the car belonging to his deceased son. He was killed in Viet-Nam. After that he would no longer allow me to come on his property. So sad. After several years the barn collapsed on the roof. That was the last I seen of it. I have seen several other with nearly the same fate. Damn shame.

You could make a pretty penny off those parts!! I wish I had the cash to purchase that K-member and exhaust manifolds.

Bought a new 68 or 69 Cuda fastback new with the 383 Formula S Auto. He had it less than a year when he rolled it. It would only sit on 3 wheels after that. The insurance company totaled it . Now days the car would be worth re-doing.

Don't know if this sheet tells but my car has a blue leather rapped steering wheel too. Its not aftermarket either!
Also had a hood mounted tach. I have it in the closet. In bad condition but has a Pentastar emblem on it. Dash does not have a tach maybe for this reason? I know the seats are wrong. I wonder if it had headrest?
