Fellas,

I was discussing this matter with a friend yesterday, because we found here in Brazil one of less mileage A-Body cars in our country: a 1973 Dodge Charger R/T model with only 384 original kilometers (about 200 miles) on the odometer !!!
This car has had a very sad story: sold to a gentlemen who lived about a hundred miles from the dealership back at the end of 1972, the Charger was driving home when the brakes failed for some reason, and the body slipped into the head of a narrow bridge, the right-end side was pretty damaged for that...
After the occurance, the owner sent the wreckage to the dealer and an inspection made proved that there was a problem with the braking lines.
The dealer promptly took the responsability for the mistake and offered to do all the necessary work to deliver the car okay. The owner refused that and told them to keep the wreckage and give him another brand new car, since this one wasn't even got the papers done.As the dealer refused this proposal, the owner got into the justice to claim his rights while the Charger stayed inside the dealer.
After almost twenty years from the accident the justice decided that nothing could be done, and the owner decided not to get his wreckage back, so the car was sold to a friend of us and partially disassembled to get the good parts for his own Dodge cars.
About two years ago a great Mopar fan & collector knew the story of this Charger and decided to buy it along with another 1972 Charger, both stayed for about twenty years outside in the weather, and pretty rotted, just to get them a brand new life in the 21st. century...
We took some pics of the Charger for you to get the idea:

Here's the car when brand new, 1973 model:

Now here's how we found it, two years ago:

And after taking all garbage out we put it into the truck to get it to São Paulo, about 800 miles from the place it stood for all his life:

After all this years, when the car arrived the new owner decided to give it a thorough wash, and here are the pics on this one:

And the car now is waiting for its rotisserie resto..
BTW, all the original parts, including the engine/trans/suspension and drivetrain, were sold with the car, so we hope that after restoration this one should be one of the less mileage A-body in the world !!

And now we keep on asking: Do you know any A-body car like this one with low miles ?? Restored, original or not ??? Any info, pics ???
We're just curious to know...

Can't beat you on that one, but that is one beautiful looking car. I love the grill treatment, and really like those extended rear sail panels. Lotsa work, but she will be a beauty soon.

Thanks Grant !!

As you said, lots of work to get this baby back on her glory days...
But we manage to do that, LOL !!
See ya !!!

Not an A-body, but I saw a gorgeous '67 GTX "survivor" at a car show last weekend with 19,700 original miles on it.

That will buff out !!!

Lowest mileage Dart ????

68 Hurst Hemi Darts And Cudas.

Usually have 1/10th of a mile on them. No speedo cable !!

Surely they are Dave, LOL !!!

But let's take the competition cars off, in a normal use car, a barn find, do you recall any very low mi. A-body Mopar recently ????
Thanks for the marvellous 68 Dart pix !!!

Yes, you have an extremely low mileage car there !!

Lloyd McVeys's car (the Hemi Dart in the picture) was raced for about 4 months (last run at the 1969 US Nationals and then parked for a long time.
That is is original paint sprayed on it back in 68.

Good luck with your project. It should turn out to be a stunner!

That is a very interesting story! It's good to see that the car will be saved. It was a beautiful car when new. If possible, post a pic of it once in awhile as it's being restored.
I didn't see it personally but there was a blue 1972 Dart 4 door advertised for sale here in the states several months ago that had very low miles. I believe it had less than 100 miles on it. It had been stored inside and looked pretty nice but I believe the ad stated the clutch was stuck and the slant 6 motor also had a stuck valve. I wish I had saved the ad and the pics.
I personally saw a 1955 Dodge Coronet 4 door that had 7.5 miles in it. It, too, had suffered a 'problem' when new, the dealership's roof fell in on it's top while sitting on the showroom floor! It, too, was never fixed.

Man, that's AWESOME !!! Sometimes it's simply incredible to know that someone bought a brand new car and decided NOT to use it, just keep it stored somewhere...
I knew a story of a guy near here that had a white on brown 1977 Charger R/T (same body style as this red one) he was so jealous on his car that he made a glass box in his factory just to keep it and look at it by his office window...The company broke and he was obliged to sell everything, but not the car, back in the nineties...A famous brazilian Mopar collector paid A LOT for this one, now it resides in his garage with less than a thosand miles on the clock...I had a picture of this car inside the "aquarium", had to look for it, if I find I'll post here, alongside with our friend's red Charger restoration, okay ??
See ya and thanks for the support !!!

You guys should be congratulated for saving a cool car! My boss owns a 71 340 Demon with 2900 original miles on it.

When I was looking for an early "A", I found a 62 with 43,4xx miles on it. It was bought by the current owner to drive while checking irrigation, but he decided it wouldn't work for that and parked it in an old barn. That was almost 20 years ago! Car still looks good (under the dust and dirt) from the drivers side. Owner said "not for sale, might want to do something with it some day. The barn will probably fall in first.:sad1:

Not an A body but in 1989 I had a 1969 Road Runner with 356 miles on it.I found it in a small garage. It was wrecked when it was 3 days old and had sat ever since.

Nuttyprof, sometimes we see things like these here in Brazil too...I vividly remember an old mister who had a very interesting 1969 Brazilian A-Body Dart, bought brand new and forgotten inside an old house's garage for decades...Lots of interested buyers on the Mopar happened to give him very reasonable offers, but he was stuck in the same motto: "These Dodges are worthless, they're piece of junk and I'd rather see mine going to trash than sell it" was his best remembered answer...
After lots of tries someone played a trick on him: just invaded the house and took the car out of the garage, then turned it in pieces for selling the "junk", about ten years ago...One day I saw the speedometer of this Dodge in a shop, it had about three hundred miles on it...The car was totallly chopped and its parts were sold for almost nothin'...

68383GTS, your story is quite the same as ours, the only difference is that our A-body Charger was destroyed only a few hours later when running off the showroom floor...
Have any picture of your 69 RR to share with us ??
