Pitman arm is hitting tortion bar! Help?

I tend to agree. Nuffin wrong with 119 buck Summit headers.

I would love to put 117 dollar headers on my car from summit...but they just wont work i have to buy these schumachers because they clear everything that i have. The headers that i had on there previously were horrible..you could barely get the starter off, you couldnt even fit a penny between the headers and the engine block, they hit the steering, rubbing on the steering box, i mean i think buying these headers from schumacher might be worth it.

Just read this, so bear with me. Going way back to a pic of the pitman; Wrong nut, and why isn't it seated in the draglink? I only remember the idler needing the foam washer. And it's hard to tell from the pic, but the top of the drag hole looks strange.

The box to frame should be 12 star? and torqued hard; info somewhere. Have a 70 a-body; only replaced the idler, that took 3 tries until correct one was found. On a 69 b body, we just replaced box and pitman, guess we were lucky on long/short sector; only problem is pass tie rod hitting header-shim engine up.

I have been playing with mopars for 30 years, and haven't seen that problem.

Your guess is just about as good as mine haha, im only 20 years old and working on a car that i have never torn apart before so im kinda lost right now. I replaced a bad lower control arm bushing on the drivers side, replaced the steering box but that isnt going to make it any better i dont think, once i get it all put back together that tie rod end is still going to hit the tortion bar and ill be back in the same boat.

Just my personal opinion here, but I think your engine would benefit greatly from headers. Were it closer to stock, manifolds would be a good choice. Although it is mild by anyone's standards, it is at that threshold where headers would be a big improvement.

Yes i agree and i will spend the money but its just the fact when they will be done..otherwise maybe these would work?

Performance wise these are in my opinion half way between headers and manifolds. The price is still alittle steep for something that might restrict your motor a little.Search for some used ones.Keep in mind these are free shipping so be mindful of the buy it now price if you find some used ones. But these will fit with alot of clearance.

not much restriction , if you read the header comparison they are within3-5 hp of TTI , better than regular headers and blow manifolds away ,. I have them and they are great , pulls beter than hookers they replaced , and top end is MUCH better , pulls like crazy from 4000 up . They leteraly drop in and clear everything including big starter and P S

Dougs headers are about the same price wise as Schumacher and they are available now. Food for thought.

Yes they do fit the A body.....but I do not think they work with P/S. It seems that sticks out in my mind.......I could be wrong.

Look at the link I posted with pictures of them installed with power steering on jerry6's car.

Yup. I was wrong. It's happened before. lol

I bet those will fit an early A with manual steering.

Hey thanks for all the great help guys all the links and pics you guys posted sure helps a guy think about what he has to do you know. I will have to think about it and decide on a pair for..thanks again! :D

From the pics, damned if I wouldn't get them Hedmans. They look nice and they'd give you mucho ground clearance.

The only shitty part is i have to take it to a shop and have them fabricate me some pipes to go down to my exhaust from the headers :/

And i cant even get it to a shop lol..not with the steering all messed up like its still gonna be when i put it back together..
