The following is an excerpt of my dealings with Demon Sizzler in Georgia who was supposed to rebuild my original Thermoquad roughly 2 months ago. Since Mr. Chevas has not returned my phone calls & emails I have no choice but to post this here & @ Moparts so that maybe no one else will fall victim.....a few of you already have apparently....Makes no damn sense to me....I never make time out of my busy schedule to slam someone but in this case I have to make an exception.........

David, I have called you & sent emails concerning all the problems I have had with this Thermoquad since I bolted it on. I paid you $210.00 to rebuild this carb and have had nothing but problems from day one....We discussed the secondary air valve problem last week along with extremely hard starting just after 1-2 days of the car sitting (choke works fine). I drove the car last Sunday afternoon for about 75 miles, parked it in my garage and went to start it again Monday evening....it cranked and cranked and I thought it would never start, it finally did after several stabs of the accelerator but had a huge flat spot just like the accelerator pump was not working....I removed the air cleaner and guess what? It wasn’t! No fuel squirting into the carb....I was stunned after paying you $210.00 and waiting a month and a half to rebuild this carb........Imagine my surprise when I removed it tonight, took it apart and found that it had not been rebuilt at all! Who knows how long the pump had been in there, or the needle & seats.....the float levels were not at the required 1” with gasket installed, the fuel inlet gasket looked like it was original and it fell apart when I removed the nut! The only thing I see you did was replace the two gaskets and re-glue the pieces on the bottom of the bowl.........I have rebuilt a few of these carbs years ago, not having the time and “experience” I thought you might do a better job at inspecting & deciding what steps would be needed to make this a turn key carb performing as new or better (as from your website). Well I had ordered a Hygrade kit from the local parts store in town yesterday for $47.00 knowing I had to find out what was going on.........so after “my rebuild” it is perfect......started almost as soon as I turned the key......So, I managed to do correctly what took you a month and a half and $210.00? Oh, and shipping + my purchase of a kit.....that puts me @ about $272.00 into this carb of which Scott Harms of www.harmsauto.com could have done for a few more $$$$ and made it look like brand new.....I am not a happy camper David and I deserve to have a good part of the money I paid you to do this job sent back to my Paypal account.....I will let you decide how much is fair....your reputation @ Moparts & FABO depend on it. Dave Moore, Virginia

Things like this i hope are just a misunderstanding but truth be told **** happens and in my opinion all monies should be returned .good luck

I think you should get your shipping and Pay-Pal fees as well......Sad part is you'll have to eat the kit cost:lurk: but, the good news is you now know it is done right. I've had a few of these deals go South too.........Goes around comes around, right?

If all things are as you said, It sounds to me like you should get every penny back. and the carb guy a real tongue lashing.asounds like a rip off

Moe

I hope you get every penny back and rightfully so. It's heads up like this that helps the rest of us. Thank You

Sometimes there are things beyond your control. Like a miniscule hole or crack. Carburetors can be funny beasts. But that doesn't sound like the case here. I just got done building a Thermoquad for a member here. It's gotta go from Georgia to Oregon and I'm sweatin bullets hopin it'll be right. It came out nice. But I can tell you, if my customer has the difficulty you describe, I will refund every penny and pay him to ship it back. When you do one with the car in front of you, a Thermoquad can give you fits.....much less with someone else installing and adjusting it. But again, it does not sound like any of that was the issue. I am sorry this happened. I sure as hell wish you had asked me. I am in the Macon area and would have done the carb and driven to Nashville if that's where you are and even put it on for you and adjusted it out good. They aren't hard to build or adjust, you just have to do some unconventional stuff, like bend rods that you wouldn't normally do to another carburetor that's perfectly normal with a Thermoquad. If you keep havin trouble, PM me. I've been building carburetors since 1978. I'll help you iron it out for free just to meet a new friend.

Nevermind. I see you're in Virginia. I caint drive all that far. LOL Be glad to help you on the phone though.

I just bought some parts from a guy here who previously had me pay via paypal. His story is that the buyer in a dispute has enormous power and he had one guy complain (it may have been ebay transactions paid with paypal) and his paypal acct was frozen and restricted. You may want to take it up with them but yeah, thanks for the warnings. So far I have only had good deals with FABO people with one exception.

Hay, if you used Pay-Pal are you not covered?

He should be. I've had folks tell me that thier chances of action are better with paypal than with say the post office over a bad m/o,yet anything to do with m/o going wrong can lead to charges of mail fraud.

Lost out on a wp here because a relatively new member didnt trust me over a m/o. Thanks henryb that made me feel really small.

At any rate I would be owning up if I were demnsizzler. After all he has a rep here and at moparts to protect.

I had a deal go south via the hands of thieves at the New Jersey USPS sorting center. They ripped off a torque converter and had the balls to mail the shipping info they had neatly cut off the shipping carton back to the shipper. He had not insured the package so the Postal Service response after a formal complaint complete with case # was - NO VIDEO PROOF - NO INSURANCE - TUFF S!!T!! - END OF STORY. The FABO member I paid the $200.00 to didn't even offer to refund me half the purchase price - I took the hit for the whole amount because of no insurance!!!

Sorry to hear about this Dave. I was thinking of using him also for some carb work too.

:happy1:

nah, there is always 2 sides to a full story, and i have talked to him before. i was going to have him rebuild my carb also, but i could not afford the price. i have heard all great stuff about him though

You should now email this thread link to David and wait for his response. We do need both sides of the story.

Maybe theY accidentally send you someone core to be rebuilt?
Who knows,I doubt seriously they are trying to pull one over on you ?
I would have taking pictures of it when I took it apart.
Good luck and I HOPE YOU GET THIS SETTLED...

I'm not going to elaborate on this incident....I do not have time to make this S--t up....some of you obiviously have had problems with this guy...As far as Paypal is concerned, they want me to remove the carb & send it back down to Ga.....yeah right! That's what I'm gonna do....remove a great running carb & send it back down to a guy who screwed me over with a month & 1/2 wait only to find out it was a waste......John, If I were you, I would re-think that choice buddy....Demon Sizzler had more than enough oppurtunity to make this right, he failed to take the necessary steps even after I emailed him this exact post......At this point I most definatley do not care what he post or when he post's it.....apparently the man cares nothing of his reputation or he would have responded to my first of 4 phone calls & numerous emails.....You guy's have been warned and I'm done! D

I never make time out of my busy schedule to slam someone but in this case I have to make an exception.........

Unfortunately it looks like I may have to do the same thing with a major sponsor of this site as after multiple promises to return my parts and a decade of waiting I haven't got anywhere by being nice/courteous/patient :cwm10:

I hate doing it cuz it will most likely cause more delay or worse I will never see the parts!

hah, if you have been waiting a decade for the parts, then i doubt you could do any more damage, as i really do not think you are getting anything from them^^^^^^

Yep Dave, I don't plan on using him anytime soon for any carb work. My original '71 TQ still works good on my car.

Demon Sizzler last posted on here in July.....

Anyway, look at the bright side, you learned that rebuilding a carb is not that hard.

Still sucks that you got ripped off.

I'm wondering if David is having some issues lately? The reason for my questioning is because back in 2006 I had a LRE truck and before I took delivery me and the guy had the factory TQ sent to David because the secondaries would not open due to the carb being worn/sitting. He got the carb back to us within a month.

Fast forward to 2010; T2R9 on here sent him a TQ for his 318 Duster and it took over 3 months to get it back. It worked great but, T2R9 had to push him. Also, I bought a 9811 from him and while I never got around to really making sure it worked right it looked like it was rebuilt or at least new. Although, the 1st time David sent me the wrong carburetor and he finally corrected the issue by sending me the correct one. I'm suprised David has not responded yet but, it takes a bit for him to get around because I think he does this on the side if my memory is right.

Anyways, hopefully things can get cleared up.

When I do a rebuild on carbs, or re curving a distributor for a customer, my jobs are tested out, it either goes on the customers car or it is tested on one of my cars before it is leaves. When I am satisfied with the end result I know the customer should have no issues.
The bottom line is when you guys hire someone to do a job for you make sure it is tested out before it is returned to you and that he under stands that.

Kenny

Sounds like Demon Sizzler can no longer be trusted. For years he had happy customers and now he is willing to flush that reputation down the drain.

Sorry to hear about this Dave. I was thinking of using him also for some carb work too.

Please PM me. I will be glad to do carburetor work for you. I stand behind my work and I will not disappear.
