Has anyone here run 16's on a 65 Barracuda? If so, could you post some pics. and list the Rim offsets and Tire size? That would be Great ! Thanks !

Coys are 17's and fit nice - and they were cheap

I would like to see them if I can. If Coys 17's look good I could get a good idea what 16's should look like. Pics. ?

Down to $ on wheels and agree with abodyjoe that 17's are the way to go. I need to know if fender wells (inside edges and outside edges) on a Dart are the same as the ones on the same year (65) Barracuda. I see alot of info on Darts but very few on 64,65,&66 Barracudas. I have K/H factory Disc., SBP all around,7 1/4 factory rear. I want to have tires the same front and rear to be able to rotate ( D.D. you know) and a little lower stance but not in the Weeds. I would like 8's all the way around and a Tall enough Tire to fill up the Fenderwell but not over power the look of the Car. I have a Firm Feel Quick Ratio power steering Box , upper tubular Firm Feel "A "arms and full rebuild poly kit, 340 torsion Bars and Gas Adjust Shocks all around. I hate to over analize somthing this simple to some of you but I am lost.....any constructive input welcome. Thanks Tim :banghead:

As long as you stay with same overall tire diameter and the correct backspacing and width to fit in the wheel wells you can use any wheel Diameter you want! :D

My car has 17X7"s off a 06 Charger with 225/45-17 tires in the rears which are same overall diameter as a 205/75-14 (stock size) tire with room for even a wider tire maybe a 245?

I'm using 1/2" spacers with longer studs and if I remember right the overall offset is 4.75" front and rear (I think 4.5" would be ideal).

If you go with a 16" or larger tire size you'll have a whole lot more choices in tires as well, and the they wouldn't cost you much more then the eqivatent 13 or 14" tires!

The biggest limiting factor you will find is rims in the small bolt pattern. The rims must be specific to the 5X4" pattern. If the rims is listed as fitting cars with the 5X100mm pattern it is not correct. Will it bolt on? Yes, but it opens a can of worms that is best not opened. I would like to see the mentioned charger wheels in person. It is a nice looking wheel and would look good on an old mopar, but I would like to see how centered the studs are in the holes on the rims.

Mr. mcnoople I got Dad's vernier calipers (sp?) and the conversion from 4 in to mm is 101.60mm ,.1.6mm diff. , .0635 in. is that a big issue with tapered lug nuts ? Doesn't the Wheel center on the middle Hub ? M.K.

Just got in from the Garage and see my Daughter has taken an intrest in the forum ! (Taken over) Too cold and and raining for her to be out with me..Thanks for the replies. Tim :thumleft:

Personal experience or hear say ? A little more detail please. Your statement is a Game changer if it is a fact. NO OFFENCE INTENDED!!! I do thank you for any light you can shed on this. Thanks, Tim (DAD)

At home on computer instead of iphone. Mine is BBP upgrade, mustang "bullit" rims....cheap and common. 11.75 disc front upgrade, full width 8.8 disc rear. Front and rear are 245/45/17. 17X9 rim with 4.5" backspace I think. Motor going in soon, don't know about clearance issues yet, only turned wheels and bounce tested in shop, looks like everything clears.

Thanks 65cuda360 ,were you using a stock mustang 8.8 with new spring pads on it to fit your Cuda? Sorry but I am still real concerned and looking into this Issue of the 5x100 not working on the 5x4 I am hearing about. Still really need to hear from someone who has actually had this set up go bad. No hear say. Going on my Daughters Car. NO room for error if you know what I am saying. Thanks, Tim :thumleft:

Rear end in mine is a ford explorer 8.8 from a 97. It's the full width, with new spring peches. It came with 373,s and LS diff.

Danger,Danger do not use 5x100 mm bolt pattern. It does not live long.

Absolutely this!!! DO NOT USE 5x100 for a 5x4" pattern. It does not fit. 1.6mm is a big deal when it comes to the entire pattern, it will put additional side loads on the studs that they were not designed for. Even if the holes in the rim are large enough to account for the difference (ie, the rim physically slides on the lugs) it will not allow the rim to be properly centered on the hub. The difference in the pattern will put the lug against one side of the lug hole on one lug, and the other side on another and so forth, so that the rim is no longer centered properly on the hub. And of course, when you tighten the tapered lug nuts it will side load the studs when it tries to force the lug studs into the center of the hole. People have done this, some have even drilled the lug holes in the rims out larger. Some folks will tell you its "ok", but there have been lug failures when this is done.

If you've got a 5x4" pattern, you need to use 5x4" pattern rims, convert to BBP, or run a conversion adapter/spacer with rims that have a deeper backspace to account for the spacer.

Coy's sells 17" rims with a 5x4" pattern.

Thank you 72bluNblu for stating it better then I could. Now if you redrilled axles and hubs.
