Can anyone help with the value of this car?

Ok heres the deal. My grandfather passed away about 10 years ago (R.I.P.) and left his 1972, straight six, demon to my uncle. After years and years of bugging him to sell it to me, he is ready to part with it. From what i remember as a little child around 5 (im 30 now) it always looked like this and he rarely took it out on the town. After my uncle got it, it has done about the same. It runs and drive with no mechanical issues. Except rear seal on the pan drips, it has a few paint chips and the front seat is ripped other then that i cant find anything it might need except maybe a good clean up. Im not a mopar guy and im wondering what the car would be valued at (roughly) obviously with out seeing or driving it, its hard to judge. Any help would be appreciative, or things i should check on these cars before buying?:sign3:

Maybe a little more,...Its looks clean and original,...6 cylinder not worth as much as a V8 car,...how many miles?
 
that thing is clean clean clean , i would go with oldkimmer at around 4500 but i would start at 5k if it is original.. you should really get a family discount though IMO
 
a close buddy has his dads original 340 car in his garage covered in bicycle parts, golf clubs, sleeping bags, etc...No rust,...he wants 8k and it needs a complete overhaul,
 
I can see it selling quick at the 5K level mentioned above. I can also see it being offered for about $7,500 on the open market. I can see your uncle selling it to you for a family discounted price of about $3,500, which would be a good price to get it for!! Geof
 
Too bad everybody has to make a profit on everything nowdays. He should sell it to you for a dollar because it is family. Did your uncle have to pay thousands for it? You shouldn't either. (Unless you don't care about Mopars and just want to sell it and make a profit.){if you do, shame on you} I don't mean to be harsh but this could be a cool transfer from one family member to another. Just my opinion. PS. It's a beauty!

I agree,...you won't get to many opportunities to find one that clean, that hasn't been monkeyed with,...I betcha most anyone here would LOVE to find somthin like that...

times 1000 on that !! very well said... i could see a car like that hitting ebag for 8k+ again if it is in fact 99% original
 
It don't sound like "uncle" is of the mindset to give it to someone in the family who will enjoy it like it should be. Sounds like "uncle" wants to make a buck on his good fortune!! Too bad too, I'm in for the $1 price, but I don't think it's gonna happen that way!! Geof
 
That car is worth every bit of 7500. Take that stick on molding off and I bet those lines are perfect. This is a genuine survivor. How many 72's out there still wearing their original paint and bumpers. I'll take it for 7500 tommorrow, A rare color also. White or black stripe kit with a snorkle scoop and hood stripe and painted sport mirrors. Rallies . What I coulld do with that car in one day of raiding my parts. PM me if you can't afford it or don't want it.
 
It looks like 7500 to 8K to me. but since its family you should get it for what he has in it
 
That car would fly off the bag at $7500 is my guess too. Maybe more.

I agree with toolman, if it's family and you aren't flipping it, you shouldn't need to pay full boat, but what do I know... :)

yup the first one I have ever seen with a straight 6... most had a slant 6@:D

seriously though if your uncle values family any you should be able to buy it from him for what he has into it, not what he thinks he should make off of it. (if he only has $20 in it that what you should get it for)
 
Im with everybody else, that Demon is BEAUTIFUL and even more so that it was someone dear to you. Surely your uncle would come off of it at a family price if you want to get it to enjoy. I have a few old Mopars that will never ever leave me because of what they mean no matter what their actually worth! You won't see many cars that look as good as that one without paying a wicked premium for it.
 
Check craigslist and ebay. There are a lot of cars on there that people think are worth what that one probably is worth. Very nice looking car.
 
That is one really nice looking ride. You should be able to get a family discount on that unless your trying to flip it. Nothing would upset me more then to give a family member a good price to have them turn around and sell it.. especially one that has been in the family for soo long. 8500 is a really fair price (give or take condition).

25 Years ago is a long time to remember what a car was like. It's even longer to have a car with limited use and still run and operate properly.

I guess my thinking was more in line with $2,500 to $5,000 for a slant 6 Demon if it was clean original paint type car. I would only be on the higher end if the paint looked good and it was truely a driver. Meaning the brakes work the fuel system is working and the car is driveable to take home without a trailer.

Now if I was selling the car it would be worth $10,000 :mrgreen: But of course the offers would only be $1,500 from anybody with money.
 
Would be awfully hard to put a sentimental value on that car! Yes, retail, 7 or 8K, but your uncle should just give it to you or at least sell it to you for what he has in it as long as you plan on keeping it.

That is exactly how we got our 69 Dart, it was my youngest step-daughters Grandparents car that they had bought new from a dealer here in San Diego. She had fond memories of this car growing up. Her uncle ended up with it for a couple of years until he found out my step-daughter wanted it. He sold it to us for $750! A 115,000 mile 69 Dart Custom /6 manual steering and drum brakes (scarey small 9" brakes). Cannot put a price on the sentimental valve of this car. I'm sure she thinks of her Grandparents every time she drives it. She leaves her Accord parked and drives the Dart all the time. It's just been on the road a short time since the 318/904/ 8-1/4 conversion and there are still some things that need to be completed and I have a difficult time getting her out of it! Love sharing every minute of this project with her!
 
sorry about the straight six comment lol i said im not a mopar guy im used to the straight six in my chevyII. Also my uncle has nothing into the car, the way it sits is the way my grandpa left it. Also for the selling part i would never ever sell it. I cant even find any for sale except on here lol. I truly love this car. I also told him that i would never sell it and he knows that but hes having a hard time figuring out a good price. Im trying to speed up the process lol. He said around 5k im thinking like $3,500 for a family discount \\:D/
