Looking for a few parts to finish the restoration of my 67 Barracuda convert. I need the lower trim strip for the windshield and the mounting ring for the gas cap (the cheap pot metal hinge on mine broke).

If anyone has either of these please respond with photo and price with shipping to 55311.

Thanks!

Hi Cuda 67
I have a 67 vert also that I am restoring (just about done).
I am converting the windshield to a 68 style, if you want to
do the same contact dodge33 for that stainless steel lower
piece, I think he has more, I have just ordered from them.
barracudakid also has a lot of stuff.
Yearone part #BN156S for the complete gas cap and ring 139.95 or
part number #J97 for the ring 39.95. You can also check Laysons.

The Barracuda doesn't use the seperate ring. That ring is used on B body cars.

The lower peice isn't stainless, it is a plastic filler strip.

Hello Oklacarcollecto
I am confused with the trim ring? The 67 was plastic filler strip
and the 68 69 were stainless steel bottom pieces is this correct?
What would you recommend to do with a 67, I here that the plastic
shrinks over time.
Thanks
Darryl

i have sold the 68 69 bottom stainless piece for convertibles.
you trim it and glue it on.
at carlisle 2 years ago i actually sold a trim piece to a guy from canada.
later he told me it did great.
as far as the gas cap/base.
it is 1 piece but the 2 parts can be separated.

The cap pictured is how the cap comes as an assembly. Note: This cap is the special cap made for the locking gas cap that goes under the black rubber shown on the lid.

I have wondered about this. That means that you can most likely use any 4 door 68 up a body bottom stainless trim that can be had real cheap since the windshield height is different than 2 door cars.

Just for reference I am going to post some pictures for the 1967 1968 1969 Barracuda locking gas cap. Mopar number is 2925881

Yes it does shrink, peels and turns yellow over time.
All the bottom strips on the 1967 through the 1969 Barracuda and Dart convertibles were plastic. The fastbacks and the notchbacks had the different stainless trim starting in 1968.

Hi Cuda 67
Forget what I said about #J97 (oops) I am getting old and slow.
Oklacarcollecto set it right. I would just buy one from barracudakid,
mine is very old and is in excellent condition , but the car was a
basket case 6 years ago. See what he has.

Just locate a four door Dart or Valiant and pick up the bottom trim cheap.
Since the windshield height is different that trim can be had really cheap. The cowl interchanges between the Dart 2 door and the Dart 4 door so that bottom stainless should too.

Now its coming back to me (brain freeze).
I had a 67 notch 20 years ago. I do not understand how these small
things confuse me lol. Glad I am not working on aircrafts because I
would forget the bolt that holds the engines in, funny in a way
but not in real life (this has happened before DC 10) If I recall.
Thank you
Oklacarcollecto
Ps Less shrinkage and yellowing with these classic a bodys because they
stored in a garage, than sitting on the street in the 60s.
Thanks ones more time again Oklacarcollecto

It comes with working on anything Ma Mopar did. The only thing you can say for sure is that you never know what the factory might have done. Who would ever dream a 8 3/4 rearend would be in a /6 car from the factory? I have learned to check everything I come across because some granny's 4 door grocery getter may have the rare almost impossible part to find that I have been looking every where for.

Third teaching, A 6 with a 8 3/4 limited slip also? in a 4 door.??
also I did not know this. Thanks Oklacarcollecto.
I am but not right now because of dog getting sick (cushing desease)
looking for a 8 3/4 rear end that I want to upgrade. I will post in the
wanted list later.
Cuda 67 I would go to 68 coup or fastback style stainless steel bottom
piece, Laysons or yearone sells the snap in clips or like barracuda kid said
glue them

Not nesessaryly a Sure Grip but an 8 3/4. This is said to have happened when the line ran out of the original part. Back then it was acceptable to grab another part that was an upgrade so the assembly line would keep moving. It pays to never overlook any junkers when it comes to our cars because you may walk by a goodie.

Cuda67, I would be looking at the Darts too since the windshield, gasket and the mylar strip is the same as on the Barracuda convertible. I have several four door Darts and when the ticks get down I will be going to the hill for some bottom trinm peices to match up. I will also be watching Pull A Part because that will be a $5.00 part plus their bs fees around here.
