Ok, found a very nice vacuum leak on my Eddy 600 carb. Im done with them and looking for something else, just not that brand carb. Let me know what you guys like to run. Im leaning towards the Holley style. Here are the specs on my engine.

LA 360
HE268 cam
1.6 ratio rockers
bored .030 over with stock pistons
Magnum heads
Airgap Intake
TTI step headers

Im not sure of the size of carb to go with although I was thinking a 650.

In the last 5 weeks I've replaced 2 eddy's and an AVS with Holley 3310's/ 750..

All 3 clients have very big grins on their faces... and looking for better rear tires,,

A 750 will work fine. I myself like the 650 DP idea better. It will be a bit snappier of the line and around town.

Why mechanical secondaries? I think vacuum secondaries work better with an auto trans.

I got rid of all my vacuum accessories on the car, plus the fact that I have no idea how to hook them up. I guess, just because I have no idea what the hell Im doing! LOL

750cfm would be ok with that engine and not to much overkill?

I wouldn't use 'em if I thought so,, my clients are lookin for all out power,, and are very pleased,, but I expect lots of different opinions,,,

If you've got an automatic,, as Badsport mentions,, vac sec's. would be easier to tune, especially - "just because I have no idea what the hell Im doing! LOL "

lol .. cheers

Ok, Im assuming I can easily connect to my manifold vacuum correct?

With that being said, how are the Proform, Summit carbs?

3310 750 vacuum secondary carb will work good.

It's all built into the carb,, it's just an alternate way of opening the secondarys...

LOL! Ok, see just wanted to prove I dont know crap about carbs!

Ok, I will check out the vacuum secondary carbs.

I see a lot of the carbs are based off of the holley carbs, so should I just stick with the tried and true Holley or are there other brands that are just as good?

:eek:ops:

Since yo had a Carter on top, you should know that all Carter/Edelbrocks are a mechanical secondary carb with an air door above it to smooth out the transition into the wise open throttle position. AFB's have a counter weighted air door while the AVS/TQ's have a spring loaded air door.

The Holley Caleb's vacuum secondary is built in.

Thanks for the input!

I didn't know you had a automatic trans in the car. That knowledge and your gear ratio & tire size should have been disclosed to help make a better educated suggestion.

The same engine combo in two different cars could get two different carbs. Here's an example.

Car one has a stock 904 & 3.23 gears with a stock sized tire. (Or close to it)
Car two has a shift kit and a 3000 stall converter, 4.30's a d a 27 inch tire.

IMO, the top car gets a 600 vacuum secondary carb.
Car two gets a 750 double pump.

Oh sorry!

Here are more details.

727, 2000 stall (which I may switch to a 3000 with in a year), 3:73 gear with a 26" tire.

Ok, I've looked at a handful of carbs all based off of the 4150/4160 carbs

Holley has some factory refurbished ones on ebay. The street avenger 670 and a traditional 650. Then I've also looked at new Holley's, Proform, Quick Fuel, and I believe a summit brand.

Are these all pretty equal carbs? Can anyone give me pros or cons on them?

With the extra details, I like either a 650 DP Holley or the 670 Street Avenger Holley.

If you're interested, I have a rebuilt Holley 3310 750 CFM carb with vacuum secondaries for sale. It was rebuilt less than a year ago and run on my car until April or May of this year. Ran fine, but I have a four-speed and a 340, so I really wanted/needed mechanical secondaries.

Let me know if you're interested. I'm not sure what they're asking for re-manufactured units, but I'll beat the price. My carb is just sitting in a box ready to ship lol.
