There was a father/son team here in Ontario that did the same thing, except with a 68 Charger. It turned out awesome! Can't wait to watch the video.

That wasn't the one where they took a '69 Charger body and dropped it on the new charge frame...and kept the new interior...I think I read that there was only a 1/2 inch difference..

Now that I think about it..ir wasn't the same because it was built for the wife. She wanted old looks with new car...

It might have been a 69. I think it was posted here a few years back. Let me go searching...

I'm striking out finding anything. Any other Ontario guys remember it? It was at Mopar Day in St. Thomas in 09 or 10

I seem to remember it was a Canadian but it was also written up in one of the MOPAR mags...

It was really cool how it worked out.

BTW, how is the weather treating you up there in Upper Canada :) ?

Ian.

Great job!!!! That car is going to be quicker than you think.
I too have been contemplating close to the same thing with a '71 challenger body and '06 charger I have.
I know the charger is longer and wider, but how did the dash fit. Was it to wide?

:burnout:

I thought it might have made one of the mags as well. Weather wise has been quite nice lately. Low-mid 20s during the day, 10-12 at night. Making it nice for working the graveyard shift, and sleep during the day! :)

Yea I'm thinking the car should be pretty quick. It has to be at least 800 pounds lighter than the charger. The dash is about 3 inches wider than the darts. Tim modified the doors so the dash will recess into the doors. Otherwise it fit pretty well.

A little update for those interested. The car is now painted, and the cut and buff has begun. The colors on this car look amazing together! We will have the car back here for reassembly on friday. Sema here we come.

Well we finally got the car all wrapped up and ready to head to Vegas tomorrow. The car turned out really nice. There are a few very minor things to finish up, but those can be taken care of when it comes back from Sema. Here are a few pics. I will post more after the show.

Thanks guys. The charger dash is about two inches wider on each side than the darts. We took about and inch of each side of the dash, and then put pockets in the doors for the dash to go in to. That, and we used the firewall from the charger also. Here are a couple of photos I took before the car was loaded in the trailer and headed out to Sema.

That colour combo looks badass. Wait let me correct myself. The whole car is BADASS

I wasn't a fan of the wheels until they were painted body colour. Now they look badass just like the car!

very nice!

if it drives anywhere near how it looks....you got a winner!!

You know what, I wasn't a huge fan of the wheels until the car was painted either. The wheels are factory take off from a 09 srt caliber. To get the charger rear suspension to work without drastically altering the rear quarters we had to go with a high offset wheel. They are 19 inch and huge, but they really go well with the rest of the car. The wheels haven't been painted at all actually. Exactly the way ma mopar made them.

Thanks for the compliment denny. It means a lot. The car drives amazing. Honestly, when you are behind the wheel you would swear your driving a really light weight charger. The car is so quick, and handles like it's on rails. It stops just as good as it goes. The four wheel anti lock really makes an easy car to just lay on the brakes and not worry about flat spots!

VERY NICE as always.........:thumblef:

I want to see it up close & personal when you get it home!! The paint scheme is awesome & kinda similar to your Dart 8-)
