[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ov-3O9YIk8M"]SRT4 Burn out with DCR 2.6 DCR 3speed auto and a Borgwarner 66mm turbo - YouTube[/ame] Here is the motor DCR will be building for me in action.

He is the first piece to the puzzle. I will use it to mock up the motor in the car. Then off to the machine shop. Still trying to locate the transmission parts I need to get this thing in the car. Talked with Ben at AGP turbo today. We have the turbo dialed in with them and DCR racing. they will start building it tomorrow.

Damn dude that thing is going to rip! That's going to be so cool in a rear wheel drive 65. What's the estimated HP? Around 400? Plus the weight savings is going to be substantial. So what tranny are you going to run? 6 speed with 3.91's would be wicked.

It had better be ALOT more than 400. You can do that with a stock S3 w\e85 setup for peanuts. A DCR 2.6 anything is many orders of magnitude more than peanuts.

600 HP is the number I have from DCR. 5 speed trans. It takes some work to put all the pieces together for a rear wheel drive car. Gears believe it or not. high 2's low 3's. We are thinking around 2.94

LOL yes Darrell is quite the wizard with these motors.

A little update with the parts seach. Fist off I want to call out a member here and Thank him. He has really paved the way for getting all the pieces that will work together to use the SRT4 motor and convert it to rear wheel drive. So Thank you Rich, Member Rapidtransit.
So on to my parts search. I found the Fly wheel I needed from a Jeep Liberty. 65.00 bucks. The MA5 5 speed transmission. With get this 5miles on it. Came straight from the factory and the vechile was damed in transit. 450.00 bucks. That's a steal. Rich AKA. Rapidtransit located the bell housing I needed 150.00. These are like finding a needle in the hay stack. So this swap is not a break the bank swap. The motor is a little pricey. But my original 10K build budget is broke. Oh well so much for keeping with in the rules. I will post pictures as the parts roll in.

A couple of parts showed up today. The flywheel. Not to exciting to look at. And the deck lid emblem I will use. The last pictures I posted of the deck lid showed were the black on the deck lid will be. The emblem will sit on the lower right side of the black panel. I think it will sharp there. Also raise some eyebrows at first glance.

Still white. Black accents red interior. Matte black wheels. Man that dualmass flywheel is a boat anchor. lol.

Very cool build, I like the change of direction with the motor choice.
Thanks Ross. Been following your build as well.
very nice fabrication skills.
It'll do the job ;)
Rich. Again thanks for all your help. If it weren't for you my head would still be spinning with all the parts needed to make this happen. Let me tell you this thing had better haul *** because I'm take some grief at the shop from not only my guys. But customers to. lol. They think I have lost my mind.

LOL. Look at it this way six hundred horse power is six hundred horse power. Four cylinder or eight cylinder. They will realize it when you take them out for a ride. And you still have fuel in the tank to go again and again ect

That's what I keep telling them. But they just shake there head and mutter under there breath*. LOL.

hell i like the fact that the complete ready to run SRT motor is only 375LBS. If it where me, id crank it up till the stock engine craps out *then* build the 600HP wonder engine. Stock shortblock SRT's go 400WHP+ all the time. However much that is at the crank IDK.

good luck with the build!

Prrc, Very nice work. I used to be one of those skeptic's till I rode in a car with that same motor. It wasn't stock and it didn't sound like it either. Let me tell you, they flat out scoot!!!
You will be happy with the power and also the fact that it is there the instant you need it immediatly. no waiting for the engine to work it's way to fast, it's ready when you want it.
The sound is NOT a muscle car sound, and it will cause people to take a second look when your driving your R/T Dart and there looking for a Neon.. LOL! Anyways, vary nice metal work and body work.

Thanks guys, really looking forward to getting this project on the road. I belive transmission will be here next week. I believe I will go ahead and get the shell back off the body cart and get the relocation boxes installed and get the K frame cleaned up so I can get the car to a roller. I need to get the motor and transmisson mocked up before I finish up the body work. I belive the trans tunnel will need some surgery to make things fit.
To make the push for spring I will have one of my other body guys help me out on weekends. To get itready for paint.

Given what I've seen elsewhere on the site, I'm surprised the haters are not appearing here. I'm glad for that. If I were a mod they would get one warning and then be gone. I like your choice.

I've learned in the past when you do something like this it won't appeal to everybody. so I've just learned to have a little bit of a thick skin and take the good with the bad and don't worry about what others think.
