Some Dirt Bag

I'm anxious to see the pictures.... (Especially the smiles on the girl's faces)

I concede.
I had to set up a paypal account.
Good. I sent $5 for her.

Again, guy I am truly humbled and sincerely appreciative of the gesture. She and I are going to have a lesson about "paying it forward".
The generosity of our community knows no bounds. That is one of our biggest pluses.

I say use any extra for her friend, and her future. And, God bless her and your for doing your part.

Hey guys. We gotta give Joey some credit, he just pm'ed me back saying he sent a couple of stickers for the girls.

Thanks Joey!

1st I want to thank every one who helped out! It certainly wasn't expected but it is appreciated.
2nd. My Grand daughter Cheyanne has a typical female or maybe she becoming like us, picky about her ride. It's taken her over a week to decide what bike she wants. We have been to just about every place that sells a bike and taken pictures of every bike she has considered. But it's looking like a Schwinn is going to be the winner.
3rd, there was enough money sent to cover the cost of the bikes and plenty to spare. So if you guy's don't mind I bought 2 cases of bike locks and gave them to the kids in the neighborhood. The leftovers I gave to the sheriffs dept and asked them to hand out.
4. while I was handing out locks, kids were bringing bikes to me to air up tires because Chey told them I had a air hose. Next thing I know, I'm fixing bikes in the neighborhood. So I did buy a couple inner tubes also and one kid is going to need a new front wheel.
As of yesterday (the 18th) there was still money coming! So, I'll parlay that into more locks and some bike parts.
I gotta tell ya, this time last year I was a guy that lived on the corner and had a big nice looking yard. Now that my grand daughter lives with me, my yard has become a playground and every kid around plays there. The grass is tromped, there are balls, toys and all sorts of things lying about.
My poor yard is a complete disaster area!

I wouldn't have it any other way!

Thanks for the update GB! Warms my heart. Now that yer.fixing bikes ya may find the odd helper to help out on the mopar !

Wow, it sounds like a lot of kids will benefit. Good for you for doing it!

Gunbunny maybe swing by the flea market at holly lanes or across the street and see if you can find the bike there. It's not typical for someone to steal
A bike and try to sell it for money but you never know with the idiots running around our neck of the woods.

I had my slant six intake and exhaust manifold, and wheels and hubcaps, and about 1000 worth of fishing stuff stolen off 222. Hopefully the person that stole your bike doesn't grow up to be a parts theif.

I saw this thread a little late for the fundraiser but I live right around the corner so if you need help or a extra set of eyes don't be a stranger!

There is an older boy, about 13 or so, that had no clue how to take a wheel off a bike. I handed him 9/16" and told him to go to work. He looked at me like I had 2 noses. I don't guess there's a dad in the picture because I had show him how to use the wrench and taught him "righty tighty-lefty lucy". Then I showed him how to take tires off the rims and pull tubes out. My son was doing that when he was 8 or 9. it wasn't un-common to find a bike tube between 2 cinder blocks where he had patched one. But this boy was amazed I could look at a bolt and tell what size it was. He wanted to know how I do that, I just told him experience.
Maybe he'll come around more, I don't know. He's a little old to be playing with Chey but if I have my head stuck under the Duster, I'll put him to work.

Is her friend still in need of a bike? How's that going?
That one is covered. Her bike is a new 20" that I picked out. It's replacing an old hand me down 16". I haven't given it to her yet. I'm also looking for a 20" boys bike too. I found out Gabby and her brother shared a bike. So this weekend will be bike-fest at my house.
I did get a little excited yesterday, I found a bike in the weeds about a mile from my house. I was hoping it was Gabby's bike, but it wasn't.
Dougievlg, I've been up to that flea market, no love yet. I'm thinking scrappers got them.

Good luck! Kids need bikes, anything to keep them active is a good thing. At some of the apartments I work at we have little kids riding around on bikes that they have to share with the whole family so the little ones can't ride them without hurting themselves. Funny how most people take something so simple forgranted. Hope the kids enjoy their gifts!

Don't forget the pics. We want to see some smilin' faces, lol.

I think this unfortunate thing that happend will bring lots of good and joy to alot of kids around you.
You might not know it now, but you might be a hero in the neighbourhood.

It warms my heart to think of all the toys, bikes, tire tracks and activity in the Gunbunny yard now!! Its great to hear that the kids in the neighborhood are now comfortable coming over to enjoy Cheyennes company, and the generous nature of her Papa!! The rewards of mentoring these young folks will pay off for years down the line as that young man will forever remember the kind neighbor with the cool car who helped him become a man!! He'll be back, and I would welcome him in the garage for some "Dad" time, which it sounds like he's sorely missing!!

Great job GB, with Cheyenne, and your generous heart for everyone!! Geof

I bought Gabbys brother a used bike this morning. I got it from a friend of mine. He bought for his boy, but he never used it and got is license shortly after anyway. $35 and now he has a like new Huffy 15 speed mountain bike. The brother is 12 so he can handle that. I took it back to the detailer's and they'll clean the dust off and wax it for me. Orgy butter the tires and it'll look like it's newer than new.

Orgy butter??? LOL never heard that one before. Good going GB all the generosity coming from this bad incident is amazing! Ya may wanna build a bike rack for your place now! Maybe hang a Harley sign up too LOL
