foose is hacking up another mopar !

I think that half of the complainers (myself included) would have been less critical if the car had been a heap of junk to start with and needed rescuing to keep it from being scrapped. In a scenario like that we'd be grateful that the car had been saved.

Most of the crap he does would be better off crushed.

And note: his "Sniper" started as a 35,000-mile survivor Plymouth Savoy.

I would like to know where is the original engine for the car? To me that was a car that should put back to stock. A grand coupe Cuda with all those options in that triple black. Would be a show stopper for sure.
Of course trying to put the car back to stock now would be a lot of work after all that door handle and side markers were filled in. Talk about hacking original sheet metal.

Did they do any metal work...or just fill the holes with Bondo?

And are those door handles the 70's GM parts they look like?

Yep, what a hack Foose is....Just watched him take a 1968 firebird and put on all new doors, fenders and quarters. Custom metal work, bitchen paint and killer interior. Moser rear end, 4 wheel disc, coil over suspension and a 550 hp LS3 with a 6 speed. Guess he is still trying to figure out how to build custom cars.

IMO it's fine when he does his thing to a plain jane model, but when it's done to a rare model with even rarer options I feel it should be left stock.

Judging by the amount of comments and people reading this thread. I thought I would share something I saw today at the hobby shop. Only Mopar there

I'd forgotten about the '67 Coronet. I did like the way it turned out.

And despite the fact that they said it was the first Barracuda that they'd done on Overhaulin, it wasn't the first Barracuda he's customized. He did one that they named the Terracuda. It's got several of the same customizing tricks done to it such as the filled marker lights and shaved door handles. I like it a lot better than this last Cuda.

That may be your cup of tea but I can honestly say that if that Cuda showed up at my door step it would have a for sale sign in the window in matter of minutes. There is not a single visual aspect of that car that I can stand.

is that the one where he made those phony Hemi valve covers to make it look like the motor was big?
I thought that was one of the most corniest things he's done yet!

I liked the interior.
The late model Hemi is a fitting upgrade.
The paint is a nice color.
Although I'm not totally sold on the stripes, I thought he made a decent (albeit modernized) Cuda insignia on the quarters.
With all of the various Mopar designed hood scoops out there it looks more GM than what I'd hope for from a customizer doing a Chrysler.

I'm not sure what the before picture of the car was. I'd assume it was not as rare a car as that black one. It IS very much like the rest of the cars he's customized. - Not exactly my cup of tea either.

It's difficult for me to follow car shows or read car magazines that don't include Mopars. I even find it difficult to enjoy the all Mopar mags that don't feature other makes. I may prefer Chrysler products but it's nice to see a variety. I guess Foose's style is Foose's style. If they never included Mopars on his show it would bother me. I just wish he'd change things up instead of staying with the same resto-mod theme.

he is in the wheel business, hence all the stupid looking big wheels, he`s pushin them

I chuckle at the people that are against custom builds like this. Im betting that if Foose choose to take anyone of your cars. That you would be excited to say that he was building your car. Now if you all kept it or sold it, in the end that is here nor there. But I gaurentee you that you guys that are nay sayers and dislike the car would be bragging until the day you died. That if it was your car, you had a car built by Foose himself.

Wrong, He hacked that car up. I don't mind a custom build. Very mild. These cars are getting rarer by the day. No need in hacking them up anymore. Hack the new **** up. I mildly mod my cars but its not to the point you cant go back to stock looking if you wanted. Foose has not made a car that I care for. He would never get one of my cars to screw up. Period. I would rather have bragging rights on my own **** and not some big headed celeb.

EDIT: oh and good luck if you ever get in a fender bender. With him cutting bumpers and fitting them differently. It's nice at first but will be a nightmare and very costly to get repaired

well its official now...

Let's be honest. If the wheel/tire combo was swapped out and it was repainted it would be a very nice car. So at least he didnt permanently ruin it by chopping the top or hacking it all up. AND at least its a Mopar powerplant.

Wrong. Not me buddy. If he gave me a free car, **** yeah. But to turn over one of my cars to have him molest it? No F'in way.

I just watched the episode and I have a question
the did NOTHING to the motor right?
other then paint it?

that must have been one heck of a coat of paint to make the hood no longer close after repainting it

No doubt their skills are top notch, and they do great work. However, the car they create is just not my style. They look like they are being built for a new NBA star who signed a huge contract. A ghetto-touring ride.

ya they should just let all these precious time capsule mopars sit in the garages and fields so that the owners "do something with them someday". if you like them all stock then buy them all up and hoard them. otherwise let the rest of the car world have a personality and build what they think is cool. its such a bummer hearing everyone bash a great guy that has more skill then most of us just because his taste is a little different. if it wasnt for guys pushing the boundaries we'd all still be living on a flat earth afraid to fall off the edge if we tried anything new.
